Say, you're from a small village in a developing country. You've got a degree and whatnot and you have a small job, with insufficient pay. You have a cousin who lives in a world-class city, and she doesn't approve of the way you make a living and is constantly criticizing you. BUT, you secretely like it and you think she's attractive. Would you tell her or would you make hints, seeing that there is no way you're ever going to be with her?

I would not do anything with a cousin. I suppose that is different in the developing countries. But in the civilized countries it has been found that the genetics are just to close and it messes up the developing fetus...

essentailly you are asking for a mentally deficient child by getting involved with a family member.

I would leave it alone. First attraction between cousins is a taboo. It usually brings big troubles in the end. Secondly, someone who is constantly criticizing is someone who's got habits that you obviously don't like and will grow to resent and get annoyed/angry with. Leave it alone. Go about your business and find someone not related and not overly-critical. Nothing good will come of it. Leave it alone and save yourself a lot of grief.

It's ridiculous to assume that, for example, for me to be attracted to my "gorgeous" cousin. Even if I become single in my entire life, I don't think I'd ever fall for any one of my relatives at all.

I think I would ask her to take me into the "world-class city" where she works... since she disapproves the way I make a living and criticizes me, I think I would challenge her to help me then. I'd be very confident to qualify in any kind of job she would offer me because (as you assumed) I've earned a degree -- I'm going to make use of it as my best asset. But if she can't help me at all, then I'd slam her for criticizing. I'd think of the worst comeback that she can never chew and make sure she'll never criticize me again.

Geez... it's just impossible to assume to be with her at all... as in, develop a relationship with her. *shakes head*

Since you're never going to be together then there is no point in saying anything. If that changes, then well, sayng something MIGHT be the right thnig to do...it's all very circumstancial. If it were me....I would try to find a way to be together, then once that was accomplished then I would say something.

It sounds like you are attracted to her lifestyle too. Don't get suckered into the lifestyle because it leaves many hurt in the end.

If I had feelings for my cousin... wow, that's a tough question. I'd probably just keep them bottled up inside.
