Do you agree with the article? Agree with Bill Maher? Does Bill Maher deserve all the criticism he has recieved regarding his attitudes toward women in general? Give me examples if you think so.

If a man complains, feminists are quick to point it out to him, but if a feminist complains, ''it's a valid question that deserves a worthy answer.''

Why is this?

I'm not talking about women who have been dumped by their children's father and haven't bothered to find a new man. I'm talking about women who don't know or care where the sperm came from.

The new book Knock Yourself Up (Louise Sloan) includes stories of 43 women who make great annual salaries and are perfectly equipped to take care of themselves and their children. They planned their pregnancies, and their kids have turned out well. Some believe that it's easier to raise kids without a husband, because:

a) No risk of divorce.
b) No power struggles.

According to the author, the downside was feeling lonely during her pregnancy, which was quickly resolved by well-meaning strangers congratulating her. Most of the 43 women's families and friends reacted positively when finding out about their decisions.

Thoughts? Comments?

to then warn women to carefully plan their lives with the expectation of divorce? No-fault divorce was supported in large part by feminists (and also divorce lawyers, LOL).

They fully admitted that the point of no-fault divorce was to make sure women understood that "marriage was no longer a viable career choice." It would "demand the achievement of autonomy". (feminist sociologist Jessie Bernard "The Future of Marriage")

So now that we have accomplished the goal of scaring women into working fulltime in case of divorce, how can feminists pretend to feel pity for these women? How can they go from trying to force women to abandon being a housewife, under threat of poverty, to warning that it is a dangerous choice? It wouldn't BE as dangerous if they hadn't fought for no-fault divorce.

How can feminists attempt to manipulate women into making certain choices but then pretend to support ALL women?

This question was asked by Franzia Kafka and was unjustly removed. It is clearly relevant to Women's Studies.

Franzia also lost her account.

Why is it an insult to tell someone to 'suck your dick'?

Isn't it a healthy thing in most good relationships for some oral sex to be going on? Why is the act of sucking dick seen as generally demeaning and laughable?

And why would the offender in this situation probably run away/get weirded out if the insulted agreed, then and there, to do what the offender requested and actually suck his dick?

My girlfriend doesn't ever wear a stitch of make up and has the most beautiful face but can't believe how pretty she is. Sometimes I find myself just staring at her because she's just so incredibly pretty. Why doesn't she think so? But even more importantly (to me), why does she think I'm lying about it or just saying it "because I'm in love", according to her? Is having low self esteem part of being a woman or something" Can someone PLEASE help me understand this?

If a man is so worried about being able to trust a woman, why is he going to take her word for it?
Is he so ignorant that he supposes being "intact" is always a sure sign? Or that NOT being intact is a sure sign?
How would he find that out prior to marriage?
Will he have her submit to a gynecological exam? Produce medical documents?

Or will he dump her after "discovering" on their wedding night?

Do these guys even think things through at all?

CURVIER women may have smart children because hip fat contains polyunsaturated fatty acids critical for the development of the fetus's brain.

Using data from the US National Center for Health Statistics, William Lassek at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania and Steven Gaulin of the University of California, Santa Barbara, found a child's performance in cognition tests was linked to their mother's waist-hip ratio, a proxy for how much fat she stores on her hips.
Now will American woman stop looking revering those skinny ugly models and stop with the anorexia/bulemia?

http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg19626295.600-curvy-mothers-have-brainier-kids.html
Children whose mothers had wide hips and a low waist-hip ratio scored highest, leading Lassek and Gaulin to suggest that fetuses benefit from a rich supply of useful fatty acids (Evolution and Human Behavior, DOI: 10.1016/j.evolhumbehav.2007.07.005)

Whether you are a feminist, someone who disagrees with feminism, male or female -

Have you adopted feminism because you are oppressed, do you oppose it because you feel oppressed by it?

Or are there other reasons for your views on gender rights?

For women to go around discussing their preferences (size, circumcised or not) in men's genitalia in a forum in which the objectification of women is rightly condemned?

Is it "liberated", "empowered", "women being able to express their views without shame"? Or is it blatant hypocrisy, objectification, and a reflection of our society's debased moral climate all around?

(We'll see if THIS gets deleted too, since I didn't use ANY derogatory language.)

the country up to men.

This specific question was asked as part of the 1996 and 1998 General Social Surveys. There were 22,477 respondents. Would you care to guess at the correlation between years of education and agreeing with this statement?

I'll give you a bit and post the answer later.

BTW, I recommend the GSS to anyone with any interest in the social sciences. You can look at all kinds of "interesting" questions. How about the relationship between political party affiliation, income, sex and belief in alien abduction, for example?

Have women been forced into the workplace in order to support our consumption habits?

It is common thought these days that 2 incomes are required to make a go of things today. If we cut down on consumption, would this still be true?

I have nothing against women who want a career, and I have nothing against women who want to be SAHM. These are choices to be made with consequences on each side.

Interesting...I remember one of my high school classmates. Very intelligent girl who got her undergrad degree at Holy Cross and a grad degree at Columbia. Today, she is a SAHM with two children.

A female-led relationship is a relationship or marriage where
both partners make a conscious decision for the woman to be
head of household and the man her helpmate
Matriarchal style of living is out of step with mainstream
society and leaves those of us who are happy in the lifestyle
feeling isolated. Living in a female-led relationship is a viable alternative to traditional marriage for certain women and men. Not all personality types are suited to this kind of relationship, but those who are have a unique set of desires, strengths and personality traits that are better expressed in a non-traditional kind of relationship.
