I'm not saying they are good OR bad, but why are they necessarily bad? If 2 consenting adults feel right at the time, why is it bad? If you don't find someone to love are you supposed to never have sex? How much of this stuff is taught to us? I've always wondered what my true sexuality would be if I hadn't had society's stuff crammed in my head from birth.

I am not sexist but I think that my dog will do better than Hilary Clinton. Also, if we were to have a woman president, Hilary would be by far the worst choice. Do you agree

in my psych class our teacher brought up a study from a few years back. an anonymous poll (survey) was taken by a group of college-aged males. they were asked the question, "if you knew for a fact that you could get away with it, would you rape a woman?" 30% said "yes". that is 1 in 3. personally, i don't know any men that i believe are capable of that, but this study was from a well-respected college and is very legit. it scares the hell out of me! i don't know what college it was from and i know that could make a difference in the answers. for example, different regions are known for different customs/morals.

my question is: what do you guys think about this? how does it make you feel? for the record, it was not a feminist study-there were other questions asked as well not related to rape. these guys were honest because they didn't have to give their name and no one could know who said what. also, please don't attack me-i am simply repeating the info i was given. thanks all!

For real. How much better would the quality be in here if trolls were not spewing their nonsense?

I know some people may disagree with me.

Some people say that trolls are sometimes funny. Maybe some are sometimes but other trolls are nasty and some are really low and disgusting.

Trolls want attention by saying stupid and insulting things to get a negative response Not by posting Q&As that are intelligent and interesting and enjoyable.

Some of them are off on an anti-feminist thing and think this is a great place to insult feminist.

Some of them are also mental and obsessively troll here to show off their hate for women.

I don't think that contributes anything positive.

Wouldn't be wonderful if this was a more friendly forum where people could come and actually discuss things without all of the pollution put out by the trolls?

Several folks have metioned that they are against the government giving financial supports to parents. How do you guys feel about Social Security? Shouldn't people plan for retirement, similar to suggesting that parents plan for the bearing the costs of raising children themselves? Should care of the old, as well as care of the young, be left up to family members?

Since a large part of what's harming our planet is due to consumption, will that begin to change in the future? Hypothetically, if consumption of non-renewable resources is sharply limited, could this change how many "products" women are expected to use?

For example - many people (particularly hygeine-obsessed Americans) shower and wash thier hair every day. Well, that shampoo has to be driven by trucks across the country, and the plastic bottle is made with other oils and chemicals, usually to be thrown out after just a month or so. How would our beauty standards change if we were "allowed" just two bottles of shampoo a year? Or would we (hopefully!) invent better methods of washing hair, like using a bar soap which is less heavy than a mostly-water bottle of shampoo? Would the "natural look" become a symbol of eco-friendly pride?

French fries are loaded with trans fats many times, and I am wondering if that is why eco-feminists are leading a jihad against our patriotic snack foods. What do you think?

i know some of you are going to think "good for her!" but why is she doing porn if she is so against it, or it's torture for her? she makes it seem like no woman in the porn industry likes porn, and if they do, they're lying. do you think that's true?

I ask this here because I think that female "characters" (quirky people with a mix of strengths and weaknesses) are less common on (American) TV.

For example, the characters I think I am most like are Det. Gorin on Law and Order: CI, Adrian Monk on Monk, and Grissom on CSI. (I'd mention a dearth of black "characters" too.) But I don't see many female characters like that.

I haven't been involved for some time, as some of you know, but discussions here about things like "equality in the bed room" have made me think about past relationships?

Is it unusual for a woman to think that a particular act (f*******) is "demeaning" and "degrading" and "uncomfortable" and something "guys only want because it's a way to dominate", while thinking the closest equivalent act on a woman (c**********) is something "any guy who is sensitive to his partner's needs" would do and should be expected to do?

Are the two acts that different?
Is this mix of attitudes in the same woman common?

I always just respected my partners' feelings and didn't try to argue or pressure (what would be the point if she's so opposed?) but it always made me wonder.

Is this common? And can any women who hold these views explain the difference?

Why do so many men (including a lot of the game producers) seem to think women don't like video games?
I've played video games since I was 4 years old and still enjoy them, I have an Xbox and I enjoy it as much as my brother does---so how did this stereo type happen?

If you state in "educated" circles that you do not believe one bit in feminism, some people will find it appropriate to question your education level, and make jokes about it. It is especially sad when men say that at dinners to please their wives so they can hopefully get laid that night... Is it a given that if you graduated with a bachelors and then masters degree from a western university you must have been indoctrinated with feminist ideology? Isn't it the other way around? Doesn't it take a highly educated person to see how void feminism really is?

It is my belief that men benefit, learn, and grow from being in women's company. But not all the time. Why do girls lately tend to crash men's solo leisure endeavors... I do not see how a pilgrimage to a strip club, a poker night, or a fishing trip can improve with girls being present. Women, why do you do this? Why is it so hard (almost impossible with my gf) to explain to our women that we need time to ourselves?
