Statistically, our standards of living improved over the years, but our total happiness did not. What makes people happy overall are having lots of real friends, a soulmate and the like. Why do people think that material gains would really make them that much happier? You know, people used to just gather food for a living and that only takes about 20 hours per day. The rest of the time is spend dancing, having fun with friends, and the like. Do you think our ancient ancestors are any less happy than us? They aren't unhappy because things like IPods didn't even exist so they don't feel the need to strive for them. Do you understand what I'm saying?

OK I have this book that deals with all these personility types and how they play into dating. One area lists different "types" of men and while the names are kind of silly the descriptions are sooooo right on.
One of the types listed is the "Boy Scout" and I'm sitting here thinking while that type sounds nice on paper--the one's I've seen are rather sad....what do other women (or men) think?

I'll qout the description: "Always solving everyone else's problems, scouts do more than thier share. Charming, empathetic, loyal, dependable, protective, thoughtful, optimistic, practical, and unlikely to take sides in a conflict, he gives much more then he gets. It makes him feel good to make a difference. He obeys society's rules and saves his money wisely. A scout has an innate feeling of responsibility to help others and feels guilty when he takes--thus, his own needs often go unrecognized."

I bought a book "The War Against Men--Why Women are Winning and What men must do if America is to Survive." In just the first pages of the preface, I'm learning of some serious claims by the author that American men are under attack in nearly all areas of life and that women have made tremendous gains in the last 30 years. There's something about Feminism infiltrating the public school system. I can't wait to read on. What do you think? Is there a war against men in America and in the world?

"Men have been driven out of the teaching fields, especially in the early grades. What is interesting is the continued claimed that girls are discriminated against in the early grades, yet the teachers are nearly all women.

Another good book is Women Can't Hear What Men Don't Tell Them by Dr. Warren Farrell, who served on the first board of directors of N.O.W.

Hey guys. In the past month or two, I've been having a lot of dreams about wrestling (WWE). I'm usually involved in it (like I'm a wrestler, I become a wrestler, last night I did some promo's, etc) and my dreams are always with real people/wrestlers. Yea, I'm a huge wrestling fan, but I'm not so obsessed that I dream about them every night. Also my dreams are usually unrealistic, but these are very realistic. I looked in a dream dictionary and it said this: To dream that you are wrestling, signifies that your are grappling with a problem in your personal or professional life. You are dealing with ideas and habits that need to be brought back into control. But this didn't help because I'm not ALWAYS wrestling when I dream about it, and I want the help of a real person. Also what kinds of ideas and habits do I need to bring back into control? Please help me, 10 points for the best answer.

lately i have been feeling depressed. as always, since i was young, happy things have an opposite effect on me- i start to feel depressed. i dont know why, but it's always been like that. on christmas, i feel depressed, on my birthday when I got present, I would want to cry because I didnt deserve those presents or that attention.

well, i dont know where life is taking me. my mother is sick (no physical ailements, just symptoms she has has heart disease) and she burdens me all the time. i want to cry, but i dont want to tell her to stop because I'm afraid she'll become weak and die. like she tells me "oh i shouldn't wait to use this in the spring, i'll be dead by then" and in normal conversations, she starts to lecture me "well, you have to learn how to do this, because i might just drop dead tomorrow." i really dont know if she means to make me sad, maybe not, but it really extremely does. and im not sure if im the only one in my family that feels like this. my friend brought it up

This article:

http://www.iht.com/articles/2005/10/19/news/feminism.php

excerpt:

"Feminist Initiative is in disarray with the loss of several founding members who abruptly departed over the radical direction the party was taking. At its recent founding congress, for example, instead of tackling a mainstream platform as planned, the party presented proposals to abolish marriage and create "gender-neutral" names."

...Contains some shocking (not to me) information about how the supposed "fringe" group of radicals, not only have worked side by side with their "sisters" for YEARS, but how they took over when they rose to power.

Feminism ain't what it used to be. Unfortunately, the US is headed for the same catastrophy.

Ask yourself how many policies these radicals had already put into place in Sweden before they were exposed. Ask yourself how many radicals here in the US are doing the same as we speak.

Most people falsely believe the US ranks high (top 3) in gender equality. Are you surprised it's not in the top 10? Why or why not?

I used to be an overachiever and then I turned into an average achiever. By overachieving, I mean those people who try to be perfect at things like GPAs, careers, and the like. What happened to enjoying life? Does that 100 on your test really mean anything if you don't remember 100 percent of the stuff later on in life? Isn't learning, helping others, and being happy the most important things in life? I came from the top public school in New York City, and overachievers there sleep for an average of four hours per night and get continuously stressed out. This type of mentality also promotes cheating and lots of competition over things like GPAs that don't really matter in the long run. How is this mentality healthy?

Met a girl months ago & kept in contact even though she moved to another country
She had invited me on a trip but I couldn't go due to work
I later visited her & we became a bit closer but no chat about
our feelings
She contacted me &I invited her to visit me, she said she would, but that it's hard to find me at home (as I often head off travelling)
I invited her again & she said she would come once she gets
free time..she has a heavy study load
Next time I asked her if she could get some time off & she asked me for how long I will be around.
I told her I'd be around for a few mths & she said she has a vac'n coming up though she's thinking of visiting her parents but she then said 'we'll see'.
One more thing, she told me one time a few mths ago by chat that she was falling for me.

Yesterday night I saw God in my dreams. I'm an Indian so Indians would know what does Shiv-ling mean. I saw a Shivling in my dreams. My mom and aunt are telling me, "Kiddo...God is here itself. Just ask the question, God, are you here? And then water will flow out of the Shivling".

So, I ask the question, "God, are you here?" and lo and behold! Water flows out like a fountain from the Shivling. And next to the Shivling, I see Lord Shiva in his full form.

Honestly, I was so scared of that dream.....couldnt sleep for atleast 10 mins after that. Hugged my hubby real tight before going to bed again.

Can anyone tell me what does this dream signify?

Site that says percent of Poor/Middle Class/Rich in CANADA?

2007-10-28 03:23:43 · 1 answers · asked by Anonymous in Economics

Why are Canadian paying about 40% higher prices then americans for the same goods. I've heard Canadian retailers whine about import duties and how the dollar, at the time of purchase was a bit weaker then it is now. So assuming this logic is true are we here in Canada going to see prices come in line with the US next year, as currency is now much stronger? If retail was as low margin as the retailers claim they wouldn't be doing it. A $35 dollar jacket bought from China might after it's all said and done cost the retailer $100, he then turns around and sells it to you for $250. Explain this please. And also try and defen why all Canadians shouldn't jump in the car and drive to the nearest border town to throw our money at the US? Why buy a TV in Canada when you can buy the same TV, plus a new home theater surround system, plus 10 DVDs for the same price in the US?

There was a woman in her late 20s who was tired of being a virgin decided to lose it to her boyfriend Tom. Little did she know until she went to the doctor that her vagina wasn't developed for some reason(she didn't know that but she has been on hormone therapy because of low estrogen (everything else is normal except the estrogen) for years).

Anyway when she did have intercourse she experienced excruciating pain in her vagina and told Tom to stop but he wouldn't he'd cover her mouth and hold her down so she wouldn't move. She didn't want this to be a rape so she kept quiet biting down on something.

After that night she told Tom that she doesn't want to have vaginal sex again because it hurts like heck and they can have sex any other way. Well every time Tom went back where it hurt terribly bad and did what rapists do, hold down don't listen to the word NO and cover their mouth.

Why is it that some guys like Tom keep doing it when the girl says it hurts really bad?
