Which political party is better suited to be the majority in local, state, and national levels? Give examples of cities and states that have fared better when democrats or republicans were the majority.

They are both better for different classes of people, neither serves both working and non-working Americans.


For the working class the Republicans are better.

For the welfare class the Democrats are better.

There is no answer to this question. Parties do not have consistent economic policies over time. For example, until 1980 the Republicans opposed government deficits and both parties did before 1930. Until 1900 or so Democrats were for free trade, and the Republicans wanted high tariffs on imports now it is almost the reverse, but Clinton favored free trade and balanced budgets. Even within parties individuals do not always agree on policies. In any short period of time the grow rate of the economy is more effected by outside random events ( oil price, war, business cycles) than government economic policy, so any effect that can be observed are not statistically significant. Even the overwhelming evidence that communist governments are bad for economic growth is contradicted by the remarkable growth rate in China.
