First, take a deep breath. I don't know whether this is a speech or a play, but in either case, your nervousness can work for you. Make sure you breath, and take a deep breath just before you start speaking. Also, when you are nervous, the tendency is to talk too fast. This is where breathing also helps. Third, instead of seeing the situation like you're a rabbit in a room full of hunters, which is what I've felt on many occasions, it should help you to realize that the audience wants you to do well. Once you start speaking, your nervousness will start to dissipate pretty quickly.

I do have a couple more suggestions, based on my own experience. First, make sure you have a hard candy to suck on during the first moments of your presentation. When I first presented to 250 people, my mouth went dry. So on top of worrying about the usual things, I was worried that I sounded funny. Second, it's ok to pause. I got through the first minute, and then drew a blank. Instead of fleeing the scene, I picked it up as if nothing had happened, and successfully finished my presentation. Again, the audience wants you to succeed, and 9 times out of 10, won't notice a mistake unless you bring it to their attention. If you are well-prepared, you'll do well. Good luck!

You should just be yourself but if this is the part that scares you then think of yourself as a different person like an actor getting an Oscar. Or if you have to sing think of yourself as your favorite singer. Take deep breathes and don't worry so much, once you get on stage you might feel different. When I'm on stage I'm fine but right before I get butterflies in my stomach. Just relax and don't worry about the audience. Even though I said think of yourself as a different person...still smile alot, get lots of sleep the night before. Say to yourself "I can do this", look in a mirror and go over what you will say, practice in front of family and friends. It takes practice sometimes and the more your on stage the easier it gets, it's like going on interviews. Think of something you will do after it's all over...like go to your favorite restaurant reward yourself.

Just accept the fact that you are scared, act confident anyhow, and perhaps no one but you will notice that you are scared. I recently saw a famous actress on a talk show - sorry, I don't remember who it was - who said that she is scared every time she goes on stage but she knows that she can do it so she does. Tell yourself that you have prepared for this, you are ready for it, and perhaps even imagine all of the audience undressed in front of you, Once yu get started doing what you will be doing, you may find you have no time to be scared, as this actress stated happens to her. Good Luck!!

I have methods to relieve tension.

Taking a cold shower is a good simulation of nervousness. The trick is to loosen your muscels. When your warm, your muscels don't tighten as much. That's why I wear a sweater when I present something.

If you have trouble lossening you muscels, tighten them up, and then try to loosen them.

Take deep breaths. Breathe and take as much oxygen as you can.

Practice speeches in the mirror and in front of your friends and family. Practice makes perfect!

When your on stage, focus your eye directly on 1 thing only. Pretend your audience is that 1 thing (or person).

Hope this helps!

When u get on that stage look at your mom or whoever is there that u hang with. When your acting look at them and talk to them. This will calm u down.Plus take a few deep deep breaths before u go on...Looking confident and being confident is two different things.I know of people that aren't confident and feel just like u on stage. But when they get on there u would never know it..So go break a leg...Good luck

think of it as if you were more exited thats why your like that. Then like that you can be less scared while your on stage. Trust me i'm in the drama club, and we have allot of stages to go on and act. I know you may seem nervous, but hey, while your doing what you do best you will be allot less nervous. Trust me. Singers go on stage, and they aren't always confident. They do get nervous, but hey, thats what going on stage is about. Building up your strength, good luck. And trust me you will be confedent.

Just pretend that everyone on in the audience are wearing speedoes, by the way a good sign of a good actor, public, speaker, etc. is being nervous b/4 stage call. GOOD LUCK
