I see albino people occasionally but today I saw an African girl who appeared to be a complete albino. blonde hair, blonde eyelashes, white skin. It made me wonder if that is where white race appeared from, since first man was African. Differences in animals, say dogs, are due to selective breeding. traits don't just appear, but for some reason science books give us a very vague description of race, saying that Africans traveled to europe where they developed light skin. We never apply such a vague theory to animals, usually scientists will discuss natural selection, where mutations in the genes that manifest physically can be selcted by nature as advantageous. If an African man and his family lived in scandinavia for even 500 or 1000 years, I don't believe that he would eventually become white. If he had an albino offspring, however, could not that be naturally selected as an advantage in that climate?

Has feminism made women more like men instead of creating a more fair society? Sure women can do anything men can, and I've always felt that we're equally valuable - but heck, the stuff that made women so awsome is all gone. They're not the nurturers they once were - they're like men now. They're selfish and express exagerated sexuality. Since women are like men, there's no incentive to marry anymore. The only incentive would be sex, but sex is cheap these days.

Before you think I'm a sexist, know that I have women's concerns at heart. Women today live increasingly isolated and unfulfilling lives. Yes, they can afford the lifestyles they choose, but there doesn't seem to be a richness to their lives. All I see lately in women is either single-motherhood or perpetual childhood.

Have women lost something in what they've gained?

Can women only have pride if they're like men these days?

Have we forgotten to honor the differences in sexes?

I constantly feel depressed, but I'm not sure if its bad enough to go and see a professional about it.(I don't want to worry my family over nothing)
I might as well say all the things I feel to give you all a general idea of the way my mind works.
I'm a 17 year old male. I know I have a good life, but in my head, I see myself as an inferior person. I could go on for days about how crap I am,so basically,I have terrible self esteem.I'm always apologizing when I do things I think are stupid, because I'm an idiot.I think about stupid things I do for weeks afterwards, and exaggerate them a lot,I'm paranoid that my friends will desert me.
Theres probably a couple more things but I also have thoughts of suicide sometimes, and self harm. I've cut myself 3 times so far, and have been making a suicide plan in my head. It worries me that I plan out all this stuff in detail (possible dates, exact areas to cut, etc)
So,are these symptoms enough to look for help from someone?I want serious answers

When I think of a hero, I think of someone who is brave. By brave, I mean having the ability to overcome the most difficult situations and thrive. My grandma is my hero because she did just that.

For some reason this year tons of people have gone emo. Most of the people were people i everyonce in awhile hung out with and wanted to scream at them to stop but i knew they would not listen to me because i'm not really there friend or anything. Now one of my closet friends has started. (and she swears she's stopped but i can't beleive her) I don't know how to handle this. How can I make sure she stops? With out taking her to a therapist or telling her parents or something (because she trusts me not to tell them) and most of all how can I handle this news?

I am involved with an individual that can be very kind, affectionate. He has strange moods. If I say for example"we need to talk" he gets extremely irritated and gets loud.
If we have discussed something and it needs further discussion he gets loud and states "We already talked about that. His idea of a discussion is like 2 sentences.
If I remind him of something he said that came across belittling, he says He didnt say it,,,if there was a wtiness he backs down.
He claims to have a bad memory but when it is to his benefit he does not forget.
I have tried to my wits end to talk and explain my position and he refuses or cant see my point,
He has committedroad rage and said sometimes you can control people.
I ahve occasionalyy wondered if he could get violnet but has not and says he never has. any diagnosis to this personality or what?

Can you suggest an analogy to something that seems bad in isolation but when you look at it as part of a system you realize that it is good? For example: A defence attorney seems like an accomplice to a criminal if you look at him in isolation. But when you look at him as part of the justice system, you realize that a defence attorney is actually something good.

Any similar analogies?
