Is life just about marrying and having kids? What interests them? How do they let off steam? What do they enjoy/dislike? What are they doing socially? Do they feel fulfilled?

Just curious about where that demographic is as we steam into 2007...

I posted a question about my roommate about three days ago. She has been having really bad night terrors for the pass few days. She'll try to fight me off when I try to calm her down. And as I'm holding her and she finally begins to relax, she starts sobbing harder about someone or something hurting her... I'm not really sure. But when she is crying she holds her lower stomach, as if in pain. I know she isn't physically in pain. She will basically cry until she is literately exhausted. Sometimes she is so frightened I have to rest with her in my arms until she falls asleep. I hate seeing her like this…she just seems so small, and fragile.

I asked a similar question, and most people told me not to ask her what was going on in her dreams, or her pass. I asked her anyway, but that made it worse…she just hides her face in my neck and doesn’t answer. And if I ask again she starts to tremble and cry. I really need to know for her sake and mines. We have come along way, with getting along and stuff. I just really need to know… How can I get her to open up to me, without making it worse???

I have a soon to be four year old child who has been diagnosed with ADHD combined, ODD, with bi-polar traits. We have such a hard time with any changes, such as his routine, right down to getting a new pair of shoes. He is a very difficult child w/o his meds, but on them, we don't have much trouble. He's just so picky about things. He even has a fear of ants now. Before, he used to go barefoot all the time, now he won't even leave the porch w/o his shoes on. He claims to see ants quite often, and claims GOD will strike them dead. If anyone can help me understand better, that would be great. Thanks for reading. And please, only serious answers.

I'm 40 yrs old. When I was 8 my mother died and I was forced by the court system to live with my dad and step-monster. At age 17 I left his house, finished high school a semester early and put myself through college.

I never worked at a fast food restaurant (not that there is anything wrong with that) or retail. I always worked in a business office. Got married at 24. Had a son at 28 and then again at 32. During the time between marriage and the second child I went back to school. By 33 I was widowed. I quit my job and stayed at home with my kids, the oldest was 5. I did not depend on the government to raise my children. I paid out of pocket for everything. Because I always figured there was someone else worse off than me that needed the public assitance. Remarried 4 years ago. I started my own business then a year later I bought another business and merged the two. I alway tried to help and be there for others. Still life is agonizing and I'm never good enough.

EVERYONE i know has had a dream where they were falling from a great hight, and it felt like they were falling. i never have. honestly, NEVER in my twenty years of sleeping and dreaming have i EVER had one. i remember my dreams exceptionally well because they tend to be rather strange, but i cant remember a single dream where i ever fell, even a small fall like if i tripped over something. so my question is...what do dreams of falling mean? and is it weird that i have never had one? because seriously EVERYONE i know, or have asked about this face to face has had one.

I have no desire to go out with friends or put an effort in making new friends. Even when people make the first move in starting a friendship. I don't even want to be around people, except as I work.

I am depressed and have been since finding out my husb is a liar and a cheat. Been to counseling and I am being treated for depression. I'm level headed, just no desire.

I use to pray to God that I would live long enough to see my sons have a family with children of their own. Now I have been praying to live just long enough to get my youngest raised and out of the house living on his own.

Just going through the motions for my kids' sake.

Who thinks about their own mortality? How many of you are aware of a finite reality? With all the the trivial endevours I see in society, I wonder if anyone focuses on making each moment count. Does anyone think about who they want to be and what they want to achieve as they enter the last phase of their lives? If you had a calender of each day you'd spend alive, would you choose your pursuits differently? I often try and catch the sunset, or sunrise, and I think it will be the only one of its kind. And sometimes I think of how long the universe existed to create life, and how long it took life to create me, and how short a time I have to live compared to the amount of work involved to make my life happen! How precious, indeed, is life. Anyone else think about this? I am wondering about the psychological state most people are in day to day as they move about in their lives. Are we missing the cognitive awareness of mortality to shape our pursuits into a more meaningful existence?

I didn't really feel comfortable talking about this with anyone I know...because no one knows...so I thought I'd try posting it here.

The summer before I came to college (I'm a junior) I was sleeping over at the person I worked for's house (I babysit). I had just taken a pretty powerful sleeping pill and was almost completely unconscious. The person I worked for's boyfriend came downstairs (he was 50) and he fingered me and might have done some other stuff. I kept going in between being conscious and not conscious, but I couldn't get awake enough to get him off of me. Everytime I think about it I feel disgusting.

Fastforward a few years to the present, I am dating a really nice guy. However, whenever we are having sex I get really sad and just want it to stop. I'm guessing it has to do with what happened. The guy I'm dating doesn't know exactly what happened, but he knows something happened...since I freak out all the time. I'd like to be able to have sex and not get so upset. Help..
