Generally I don't suffer too badly with depression, in fact most times I just feel down and have low self confidence. Twice however I've had it really bad and both times I've deliberatly pushed my friends away and been lucky to come out of it to find they still want me around.
Thing is it's kind of always there in the background - this sense of wanting to push people away. It's bizarre because I know that if I stop seeing my friends I'm essentially just left alone with my thoughts and that's the worse that can happen, but still it's there.
Recently a friend who I haven't seen for a while has decided to throw a house warming to show off her new place and all of my friends got an invite via email except me. Now I know it's probably just a mix up or an oversight, but it's got these feelings going and even if I do get a (late) invite something in me wants me to just turn my nose up at it and not go even though I know it would make me feel worse. How do I stop these thoughts?

I'm 17 years old.

I've been through quite a lot in my 17years of life. I'm not going to go into great detail but I was very depressed for over 2years due to abuse, rape, serious car acident (being told i'd never walk again), being unwanted from by my father and being sick with glandula fever and complications due to various operations.

Anyway, this has turned me from being extremly extrovert to being introverted. I've been to three different high schools so i have lots of friends that I don't know or trust very well. (except my best friend)

I like everything in my life to be my business and only my business. I don't like sharing things with other people. I don't trust many people.

How can I create more meaningful relationships without having many friends I'm not very close to?
Is it bad that I keep my issues to myself and don't share them?

I’ve decided to make a new account and post this in multiple categories. Hopefully I will get a wide array of answers.
Am I right in assuming that a large percentage of you on this site are between the ages of 8-25? Well, what I've noticed is, when a member of said age group does not understand something, they turn to insults and things of the sort. I'm not saying many do this, I'm just stating that I've seen this very often on this site. Now I personally find this fatuity to be somewhat funny. It's just a major sign of childishness and lack of intelligence on their part. My question goes out to those of you who have also noticed this. Why do you think people do this?

I've been seeing a shrink for the past few months, I had been seeing him near 2 years ago but I stopped cause he thought things had been worked out (It was alot for ocd stuff back then). I'm 17 now. I've been feeling more depressed, I just had a really bad night a few days ago where I just kept thinking how easy it would be to od on some pills in my drawer, but i feel asleep. I've had suicide thoughts b4, not this bad I think. I've been getting worse for a few months now (I even dropped out of my 11th grade, couldn't take it) & I've been kinda on & off suicidal in those months, but it's getting worse now i think. Everything just feels like crap. Should I tell him? Will he tell my parents or the gov or what? I don't want to go to a 78 hr place, but I'm getting desperate. I've told my mom (like 5 times since 5th grade) about this stuff & cutting (why I was diagnosed depressed & started sessions 3 yrs ago) she didn't do much, but it's not like my parents are totally clueless. Help?

I have a life plan which is going to get me sorted and doing everything that I have dreamt off in life. The plan is flawless and should work out. The problem is the whole process will take 8 YEARS.

I want it ALL. I want it NOW.

How do I just relax and gain the patience to enjoy my life instead of just focusing on this future plan which will take years?

My ex-girlfriend & I split up over a month ago.We were under a lot of stress from other things,& she finished with me because of it. Now everything's fine. The other day,we went out for a drink,& spoke for nearly 4 hours! She said she feels guilty for finishing, doesn't want2get back together, yet does want to spend time with me...and just see where the friendship goes...then she says maybe i can come over and we watch a dvd/have lunch etc on friday..i've said yes. The thing is, I want more from her,& am confused as I dont think she does from me, although she wasnt really clear! What do I do, do I still go,& is it worth me saying/trying anything? I feel like trying to kiss her or something! She says she doesnt want to lead me on!

Am I being taken for a ride, any advice in this situation? My head is so confused, and every time I look at her, I just want her back, but I don't know what to do?
