Greed, selfishness, disability, laziness, bad luck....the list could be endless.

The biggest issue really is the lack of distribution of the wealth that we have. Despite government efforts - and let's face it anything to radical in redistributing wealth would get that government thrown out of power - too high a percentage of the wealth in all countries is held by too few people.

Whilst I think it is fair to say that the general standard of living of people in poverty is higher today than it was in years gone by [picture the slums in the East End, 12 people per 1 up 1 down houses, no sanitation etc]........we now judge poverty by today's standards and therefore poverty does still remain.

Unless people's attitudes change it will remain with us forever. It is all very well talking a good game but how many people are prepared to give up their hard earned wealth to give it to the poor in our society....not many I can assure you.

Greed. In fact i would say that's the number one factor.

If a big company sources an ingredient from a poor continient and pays the workers poor money, leading to poverty - why do they do this? Greed cos they want to keep thier profits for themselves.

If a corporation goes into a country and takes all their resources, damaging the environment so that the land cant be farmed and leading to poverty - why do they do this? Greed ocs they want more money and resources for themselves.

If rich dictatorial leaders take moeny sent as aid or through trade, builds a nice house for himself, supresses the minority and doesnt use the money to help alleviate poverty, why do they do this? Greed cos again, woo hoo, money that they cant bear to share!!

A natural consequence of evolution. Those who fail to adapt to society's changes find themselves unable to survive on their limited resources.
In ancient civilisations these people would have died of starvation, be allocated menial tasks or exclude themselves from their society. The result was the same - those who did not produce had little opportunity of raising offspring.
In our modern socialist society, not only are wasteful eaters subsidised but the benefits system encourages them to reproduce thus creating a massive under class of consumers who put nothing of value into society. Subsidy therefor expands poverty rather than reducing it as the worthless continue to breed.
I believe that big business is behind this policy to over tax working people who have already reached their maximum spend level on routine consumption. This increases retail turnover as those without funds are given resources to spend in national and multi-national outlets.

In my opinion, rapid population growth and lack of skills, or lack of education, are unfortunately consequences, not causes of poverty. Poor people in "developing countries" have no or little access to education and are trapped in an environment that makes them always poorer.
The explanations for poverty are complex and involve indicators such as economics, culture, politic, history.

There is more hunger for love and appreciation than there is hunger for bread. It is easier to cure the hunger for bread than it is to cure the hunger for love.

Many of the impoverished in the USA are so because they have mental issues that scare their ability to accept social norms. Most prevent among these is the rejection of authority. This rejection will keep many of the mentally ill out of government facilities provided to help them.

Social skills can vary. Samuel L. Jackson did a brilliant job acting as a homeless (ah, caveman) in the movie, “ Caveman’s Valentine “.

Religion. Like Karl Marx said, religion is the poison of the masses. Most religions emphasize on letting go of material wealth in order to live a pure life and reach salvation. worse than that, some religion teach that suffering is good. That's why people accept poverty and no longer aspire to get out of that situation.

poverty is braught about by unfare distribution of wealth.
the obsesive gready who want to own everything for themselves and everybody, they also want everybody not to have an oppinion that is different to theres. as regards skills, in britain before the production base was sabotaged by the government there were plenty of jobs for unskilled people and they could live on the wages, it was destroyed when we went into europe.those with white collar skills anhialated the jobs of the lower working man, and dumped them all on benefits.
the greedy (iam alright jacks) use the overpopulating as an excuse to further their own greed whilst overpopulating britain with cheap slaves to impoverish whats left of british working class they do not like paying wages, so they sack workers and go abroad for cheeper labour, they dont like paying taxes so they go and live in monaco. these are the menace.

Division of people in both caste based and religion based communities by politicians and then promising benefits to only those communities through which they can win elections.

As a result, this hampers chances of employment in Govt/Pvt organisations leading to more and more poverty
