The hardest thing I've ever had to do was take care of my maternal grandma in the last year of her life. We didn't know that she had been dealing with dementia until about a year after she died. She died at age 91. That was 6 1/2 years ago.

I think the hardest thing I've ever done is to face the fact that I can't work anymore because of my pain and physical problems. I am only 33 years old and have had to go on long term disability because my body just won't do what it's supposed to do anymore. I have really struggled with this as I am the kind of person who believes that a man should work and be able to take care of his family. My wife has been disabled for 6 years and I worked to take care of her. Now, I can't even do that. I am really struggling with my self esteem as a man. I realize it's not my fault and that it isn't a choice, but still it affects me. If you are healthy, be thankful because when you have your health, you can do anything you set out to do if you are willing to do the work.

I gave my little girl up for adoption because I was 14 years old and had my dad in the hospital with a stroke and my mother telling me to and every one telling me that I would fail. I gave her to my aunt so I do get to see her grow up and she knows about me and every thing. I have to live with knowing that if I would have had just my dad I know I would have kept her but I how.
