this "bee" is larger than anything we have ever seen!! it is between 1 1/2" - 2" and has a large v-shaped stinger on it and large eyes. we live in West Virginia and have never seen this before. we cannot find the nest, and you only see 1 or 2 at a time.

I was in the bathroom and I found this (what appeared to be a spider) sitting on the side of a wooden shelf. I was really scared so I went and got Ortho home defense max spray and sprayed it a couple times. It Jumped! It didnt jump too far but it crawled with some speed and would jump every now and then, it sorta reminded me of a grasshopper, but I know it wasnt that. Whats throwing me off about what it is is the fact that it had antennas. It appeared to have two of em. Can someone tell me what kind of spider this may be and if it's posionus or not, because Ive also noticed quite a few bites on my back and legs and while they dont have two puncture points Im leaving the possibility open that they may begin to develop as spider bites (however Im writing them off as mosquito bites for the time being). I've just dont some research on my own but I cant seem to find any good info

Any help would be greatly appreciated, Im scared to death of spiders so this is really severe for me.

In a flood situation, would an underground dwelling animal (e.g. mole, rabbit, badger) have the time/intelligence to make an escape, or would they stay and drown? And if they do escape, do they learn from the experience and make a new home elsewhere, or do they come back to potentially face the same danger again one day?
I dont know why this is bothering me, but it is!

picture: http://home.earthlink.net/~rhududu/spider.html
Found in Eastern U.S. (NC). In person, it's looks light tan with dark brown vertical stripes, and dual-colored tan/dark brown legs. With legs, it's no larger than a pinkie nail. It may be a hunter. I've mostly seen it crawling across the carpet, but once on the wall. It doesn't stick to one floor of the house. When I come within a few inches of it, it runs or jumps toward me. I'm curious because I've never come across one exhibiting such erratic, seemingly aggressive behavior.

One day in the fall I was driving by a farm and saw that the farmer was feeding pumpkins to the dairy cows. These were ones that were broken or had small spots that he could not sell.
The cows seemed to be really enjoying them.

I always wondered if the things that cows eat affect the flavor of their milk.
