For those of you who've read the novel, is it at all plausible for a bear to follow a child through the forest for nine days, thus probably leaving his territory behind (are bears territorial?), and not eat her ? What could prompt such a behavior ? Aren't bears strictly predatorial ? Does the story make sense from a naturalist/behaviorist point of view ?

Some one told me that chicken lays 1-2 eggs per day without the help of a Rooster. I thought that a Hen has to have sex for it to lay eggs. Is this true? I'm not a country boy and never ever seen a live chicken or Hen or is that the same thing?

The spider's body is quite big.It looks like a gnaphosidae but i'm not a spider proffessor. The web is quite interesting. It's situated under the window outside and looks like a cocoon with another small webb in front of it.The spider sits next to it and doesn't move during the day.
