I would try looking for them at small, privately owned animal parks and zoos rather than big city zoos. Most major zoos are very careful about breeding animals, and not only that, they would almost never have a lion and a tiger in the same exhibit.

Ligers and tigons generally result from accidental matings, as in smaller animal parks space is often limited and different species are sometimes housed together. But no reputable big zoo is going to breed a liger or tigon on purpose - they are a man-made hybrid that are often sterile (at least the males are) and useless to the survival of the parent species.

So I would try the small parks and zoos, including the sanctuary type that take in unwanted exotic animals.

The only zoo I've ever been to in New England that had one was the Acadia Zoo in Elsworth Maine. They had one a few years back, so it may not be there anymore, but the last time I was there, there was a liger. I know Maine seems like a very far away place, but Elsworth is 20 minutes outside of Acadia National Park, which is one of the most beautiful national parks in the country. It would certainly be worthwhile to get a hotel in Acadia, and drive to see your liger. That way, you could appreciate the beautiful scenery, and also get to see that fabulous animal! (Now would be a great time to go, because all the leaves are changing).

It'd make a great vacation trip!
