This is for a short story I'm revising, when my female character gets attacked by a tiger, and loses blood. How much can you lose to need a blood transfusion, or go into shock and have death? I realize this has been asked before, so that's why I added the second part to this question.

My doctor told me to start taking a calcium supplement. I forgot to ask what kind of calcium. What do you think? I can call on Monday to clarify, but thought I'd see what responses I'd get here. Thanks.

My roommate ifyou dont knwo by now, is addicted to oxycontin and is trying to ween themselves off of it. They do not do enough and havent been on it for more than a month (but been doing it for a month straight, everyday like 60+mg) once the high has worn off they complain of how shitty they feel and it is unbearable.

On monday they have surgery, soemthing with their bladder, using an endoscope and going up their urethra(?) to "check it out" i dont know the medical term for this. if oxy is stilll in their system is this safe and/or ok? it isnt a lot but it is still concerning

thanks

My son had the surgery to fix Pyloric stenosis on May 20th. His incision was healing fine then about 2 weeks ago I noticed it was a little red on one side. Now the past 2 days it looks red and infected. What should I use to clean it with? Is this normal that almost a month after surgery the incision isn't healed yet?

I'm currently on 5/500 mg's of Vicodin for severe back pain, but I would like to get the Vicodin ES's because I have to take at least one and a half to two to get relief. I'm just afraid to ask because I'm afraid they will think I am addicted to them. What is the best way to approach this sort of topic with my doctor. I have been on this medication for about a month and a half now. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I will give the best answer 10 points

Hi. One of the professions I am hoping for when I grow up is to be a surgeon. However, of course, to be a surgeon, you need to steady hands.

Are there any exercises/drills I can to do make my hands more steady?

Thanks in advance.

Does anyone here know what the difference is between a clinical biochemist and a pathologist?

As far as I was aware, clinical biochemists diagnosed diseases in hospital labs. But it also seems pathologists do the same thing. Yet to be a pathologist, you need to go to medical school. But to be a clinical biochemist you need a PhD in a relevant field.

What are the differences between professions?

Need someone to check my math: molecular weight of compound 602.58. Need to make 200uM at 2.0uL.?

So, 100uM at 4uL = 0.4 nmol. I want to make 0.4 nmol with 200 uM at 2.0 uL. Given molecular weight, I came to 0.121mg/mL. Does this sound correct?

For example natural morphine and synthetic morphine is still the same chemical morphine. The reason why most plants produce those chemicals is to protect itself from preditors. However those chemicals on the body can be medically beneficial during certain ilnesses because their toxic properties become beneficial to the body when the ailment does the exact opposite of the chemical. (The same applies with synthetic pharmaceuticals). For example there is a naturally occuring plant toxin called digoxin that causes the heart to slow down and stop in a plant called foxglove. However when used in the proper dosage of someone with high blood pressure its heart slowing it will slow the heart down to a normal level. The reason why you never see digoxin admistered in the form of its plant is because the plant never creates it at consistant dosages and also creates many impurites as it biologically makes it. Therefore eating the plant you will either overdose or not have enough or be....

I was considering to major in pre-med in college, but my art teacher warned me that many doctors are becoming swarmed with insurance paperwork instead of meeting with patients. And somehow, the patients on welfare or that are illegal aliens make it difficult to handle their medical bills. Have ANY doctors experienced this? And how can this be avoided?
