This plant has been used in the Philippines for several uses, malaria and stomach issues being notable. The Journal of Ethnobiology and Ethnomedicine cites it as such. There is no medical literature that says it effects diabetes.
There is, at this time, no cure for diabetes, only treatment medications and also proper diet and exercise, which can decrease insulin resistance (in Type II diabetes).

The diabetes illness might be reversed simply by adopting healthful lifestyle changes. The diet program should really be made up of plenty of fiber and lots of vegetables and fruits. Take in four to 6 meals/snacks spread out equally throughout a day. Start working out consistently. Supplementations can certainly be helpful as well. Flax oil, a multivitamin with minerals, bitter melon, garlic, billberry, as well as stevia might be helpful.

With the newer types of insulin these days, diabetic diets aren't necessarily as restrictive as they used to be. Read here https://tr.im/ZA9Ml
As with any medicine or diet change, you should discuss it with your doctor. Fruits, both fresh and dried, have a natural sugar in them that will raise blood sugar levels, so be careful about eating too much. Not sure about the nuts. Moderation is always the key. I've been diabetic for 18 years and just recently changed insulin types. I love it because it gives me more freedom in when and what I eat.
