Can anyone here help me to find out if it's true that nurses can study medicine without going through the first 2 years in medical school? Serious answers are appreciated. Thanks.

I know the moral implications on this, or the actual likelyhood it could ever happen, but...'IF' the brain could be transplanted, would you still be the person you were, or become the person whose brain you received, or become a new person altogeather? As cloning is already possible along with so many other kinds of transplants, one has to wonder about this. This is a curiosity of mine and serious replys/answers will get the condideration of the 10 points.

Instead of alcohol at the bar, I drink tonic water and lime. It looks like a gin and tonic so people don't give me crap for not drinking.

However it has quinine in it. According to wiki in the US it only has 83ppm which is a fraction of the medical dose. But since i drink a lot of it should I be watchful of my intake?

Is there potential poisoning or toxic levels to beware of? Long term effects of drinking it so often?

I started taking Ritalin about 2 months ago. The stuff was great! I could get all of my homework done in seconds. Here lately I have been noticing a difference. There really isn't any other way to describe it except that I don't get my high and am having a hard time concentrating again. Its almost like my body has gotten use to the dosage. The doctor upped the dosage back in the beginning. How come it isn't lasting as long as it did back when I first began taking the medicine?

Anyone agree with me? if so, contact me. If not, go fuh fuh fuh, or nah nah nah, or dee dee dee, and just downvote as many answers as you see a day. I'm getting sick of seeing ALL answers downvoted without even an intelligent, alternative answer OR an up-vote.

Does anyone agree with me? People who ask questions have a hand up on those of us who provide answers, since you can only now 'star' good questions, but you can downvote answers.

To those of you who downvote everyone who answers a question: nanana popopo bibibii lalala snoo! oh god at least contribute something.

I had a recent accident where I now have a fibreglass cast on my leg for six weeks. The discomfort from the cast, itching and thinking about what happened have prevented me from falling asleep.

My GP has prescribed temazepam (Temaze) for me indicating one tablet per night as necessary, but may be increased to two if one does not work. Irrespective of whether I take one or two, I sleep for 3-4 hours then wake up and find it difficult to sleep again.

I am going back to my GP soon to discuss this but was wondering if anyone has had any good results with any other type of sleeping tablet. I've heard some people say that temazepam isn't that good.

I'm allergic to aspirin and ibuprofen, and Tylenol hardly does anything for me, so my dr has recently prescribed Ultram (tramadol) for bad headaches, back pain, etc. Last year I had foot surgery and was prescribed Vicodin during recovery.

I've noticed that both Ultram and Vicodin seem to have an opposite effect on me than they have on other people. Whereas other people get kind of lethargic, drowsy, spaced-out, I've found that these medications make me restless with lots of energy, even agitated, seem to cause muscle twitches, and keep me awake or else I find myself waking frequently during the night, like a stimulant. I'm not overdosing or combining with other meds.

Is there some weird metabolic or genetic variant that could cause this reaction? I don't take the Ultram very often, but I'd like to know that I'm not doing something harmful. I'm at a loss about what other non-opiate, non-NSAID painkillers I can try...but if anyone has a suggestion, Id be glad to hear it

I've got a friend who's about to graduate med school and is interested in using his knowledge in the field of medicine for social work/activism. Basically, he told me he doesn't just wanna work at a hospital all his life. He wants to use his degree for the "bettering of society." He (as well as I) needs as much as information as possible on everything. Thanks.
