I need to come up with a few ideas for science fair, but I'm drawing a blank. I'm interested in nutrition, and so far I have: Which citrus fruit (out of lime, lemon, orange, tangerine and grapefruit) provides the greatest quantity of vitamin c? This is high school science fair for honors students, and last year I competed at the state level, so no "baking soda volcanos". This science fair is pretty extreme (in other words, up until 2 am from now until january), so I need generally advanced topics. Any suggestions?

The SNS is the body's emergency response system. How come it has the shorter, myelinated, preganglionic fiber? I would think that since the body would want the fastest response time in emergency situations then the SNS would have the longer preganglionic fiber thereby allowing for a faster signal transportation time. The only thing I can think of is that this would allow time for the neurotransmitters released from the adrenal medulla to spread throughout the body and shut off the PNS so that when the signal from the SNS arrives the PNS is already inactive. Can someone answer this? I've asked every professor I could and no one seems to know be able to give a satisfactory answer.

Or do students in medical school have to do things like this anyway before they even choose their specialty? Pretty much, i want to know if there is any way to become a doctor and avoid having to do things like draw blood, give shots, do surgeries, things like that, that make some people queasy. And if so, what medical specialties can avoid this. Thanks!

FDA considers a ban on cold medicine for children.
If they were going to do this, shouldn't it have happened when they banned phenylpropanolamine?
Though they aren't notably effective, isn't 3 or 4 dead kids a year too few to call them unsafe, especially since most of those are overdoses?
Would this eventually have any impact on the American mindset that there's a drug for every problem?
We know that Dimetapp, for instance, is popular because of its sedative properties, not because of any effect it might have on the cold symptoms. Will mothers substitute for a bottle of milk with a bottle of beer?
