I am scheduled for an upcoming colonoscopy. I was told by my physician to not use and amphetamines, gingko biloba, metabolife, herbalife, diet pills etc... Basically no stimulants. Can someone please explain to me why this is and what are the dangers if i do have something in my system. Thanks.

the meds they give you to knock you out are "downers" or whatever you want to call them, and if you mix "uppers" w/ "downers" it can kill you.

You will be on a clear liquid diet for a day, and you will take a potent laxative the evening before the test. You will probably be up much of the night sitting on the commode.That's enough stress without adding other stimulants.
The morning of the procedure, you will be given one or two drugs for sedation and anesthesia. You don't compounds with unpredictable side effects in your system at this time. None of the drugs you mentioned are absolutely essential for your health, so eliminate them for a few days.
While the prep for a colonoscopy is a pain, the procedure itself goes rather smoothly. It can be a life saver, so don't let the negatives dissuade you from having the procedure.
