First of all stop taking 1 1/2 to 2 tabs, more than 4 grams of Tylenol a day will destroy your liver. I would go to the doctor and be honest about your pain. You may need interventions beyond pain pills if it hasn't improved in 6 weeks.

If you've been on vicodin for a month and a half, increasing the dose is probably not a great idea. It really can become addicting . If you become addicted you'll go through hell that will make your back pain feel like a walk in the park. Better to go back to the doc and see what alternatives he's got. If your back pain has lasted this long, something is wrong and you need evaluation and treatment. The statistics say that for most people physical therapy works best is there is no physcial damage requiring surgery. I'd avoid chiropractors, psychics and gypsy fortune tellers however.

Flat out tell your doctor the 5/500's are not working, and ask him if he could give you something stronger. If he seems to have a problem with it then ask him for a referral to a Pain Clinic. I got mine to give me a referral to a Pain Clinic. At the Pain Clinic the doctor doesn't worry about a patient being addicted. The doctor worries about the quality of life for the patient and gives the strongest medication needed to control your pain, Oxycontin, morphine, morphine pumps, back injections, etc. I have been going to the Pain Clinic for 3 going on 4 years. Take the MRI report of your back to the Clinic, or have your doctor fax it. To go to the Pain Clinic you need a referral so your insurance company will pay for it. Most Pain clinics won't accept a patient unless they have a referral. Check and see if you need a referral.

They are right more than likely you need further examination. Although a chiropractic may not be the choice for another, you might want to consider them, and acupuncturists, some proven methods of dealing with pain, and consider herbs, as well. If you are in that type of pain explain to your Dr. consider all health alternatives; so your healing may begin, even biofeedback.

I'd tell the truth. When I told my doctor I needed two or three to get relief, he gave me the ES. You do need to be careful about addiction though. Be glad if your doctor is concerned.

If after 6 weeks, your back pain is no better, you need treatment beyond more pain pills.
