Calling all fellow medical students, nurses, doctors, surgeons, dentists, and anyone else handy with a needle holder, forceps, and some Ethilon!

Any tips for what material I can use to practice suturing at home? I have the equipment and suture packs, but I'm in need of something that feels kinda fleshy!

I've been told banana skins and orange peel, but first one seems too soft, and second too hard. My gf suggests suturing our Thanksgiving turkey after we stuff it good - which sounds like a great idea to me.

Any other suggestions for less festive times of the year? :)

I am terrible in Math. I can only do the basics. I do well in all other subjects. I'd like to return to school to become a Registered Nurse but I'm so afraid I will flunk out of the math classes that I hesitate to register. Anyone have any advice for me?

I am tapering off of wellbutrin and started taking 10mgs of Lexapro a day. does it take a while to start feeling better? Did anyone ever feel better immediately? I have heard of people taking one or two pills of an antidepressant and swearing they felt instantly better. The Wellbutrin used to work but has started fizzling out on me after 6 years of using and that is why I switched to Lexapro. Also is 10mgs considered a super low dose or should this be fairly sufficient in relieving moderate chronic depression (dyshthymia)?

I am trying to calculate equations for a quiz and I am stuck on the equations involving a persons wieght and the medication dosage.

Example:

How many capsules , each containing 250 mg, are needed to provide 50mg/kg/day for 10 days for a person weighing 176 pounds.

I need to know how to calculate this so I can learn to do it on my own. Any help would be great thank you

My hip has been hurting a lot ever since i took a foul in a basketball game. My cluster is going on a field trip to some amusement park. I will not be with a teacher all the time. I will be with my friends. I'm afraid my hip might give out. If this happens what do i do? Go to the first aid station? Have the first aid guy come to me? If I go to the first aid station will the guy talk me through it? How do i ask him for help without being embarrassed?

I know it's long but thank god for people who actually read the question!

I have a friend who wears a magnetic earring in her bottom lip so it looks like it's pierced. (She's too afraid to get it pierced) I have mine pierced and I told her it didn't hurt but she won't believe me. She says the magnet works for her. I told her I didn't think it was a good idea because it might rub her teeth but I couldn't think of any other reasons why she shouldn't do it.I've heard about magnetic bracelets people wear that supposedly help them feel better but heart patients are not supposed to wear them. Why is this?

Last January I successfully stopped smoking for 9 months after using the anti-smoking drug "Zyban". Recently however I have relapsed a little. I decided a couple of days ago that I would recontact my doctor and ask for a second course of Zyban as I found it to be a great deal more effective than NRTs. However I have just heard about another drug called Champix which was released yesterday and sounds very similar to Zyban, but with less health risks. Can anyone tell me if there are many differences between the two prescription drugs?

Thanks in advance.
