Medications are drugs.

Some medications are not controlled drugs, other are controlled by prescriptions or are completely illegal.

Some controlled drugs are called recreational because they don't have a medical purpose, these are often the ones that are banned completely.

other then the fact that drug is the word used by people who are on the street selling drugs and medicine or medication are words used by people who are taking the drug for treatment and not for recreational purpose. there is not a differance .

a drug causes a theraputic effect, a medicine is created by man. Oxygen is a drug but not a medicine

The difference is a very thin line. A drug works even when it`s not needed. Sleeping pill induces sleep even in those who can sleep normally without any pll. A medicine works only when needed. Tylenol reduces high temperature to normal. It does not reduce normal temperature to subnormal.
