If 500gm of dextrose are dissolved in 600ml of water, with the final volume being 1000ml, what is the % strength of the dextrose in the solution?

I would like to know the steps in order to get the solution

% strength of a solution is grams of solute / 100 ml of solution.

so 500 gm in 1000 mls total = 500/1000 or 50/100.

the answer is 50% solution.

I'll give you a hint: water weighs 1 gram per ml.
