Some one asked me this question about refrigeration of water. Ice slabs of dimensions about 120X20X30 are made in ice plants and it is generally seen that they are empty towards inside from the two side surfaces.

On 9/11/2007 two towers plus a third 47-story building collapsed in NYC. The third building (WTC 7) was not hit by an airplane and suffered minor damage, yet it still collapsed as if it were a demolition.

The 9/11 Commission claimed that there was a hollow central core in the towers (in fact there were 47 central support columns: Check plans and pictures taken during construction.) They also concluded that the impact of the planes did not bring down the two towers. They claim that fire caused the collapse of the two towers.

Can you give me specific dates, times, places where other steel framed buildings collapsed because of fire?

If not, then I'd appreciate your explaination for the collapse of three buildings at near free-fall speed.

a giant hamster wheel for humans in a prison, and forced (or enticed) fifty or so men to run in it at once (I'm envisioning individual wheels attached to a common central crank shaft, so that people could get on and off in shifts without stopping the whole wheel) could they (theoretically) generate enough electric power to provide the needs of the average sized prison? Is it feasible, do you think? It could at least offset the prison's demand for power a little couldn't it?

When designing an HVAC system, diffuser selection is a must. From manufactorers data, diffuser information can be found, one thing i am not sure about is the air flow.
When , for example, the diffuser is labeled as 800 CFM, can I supply it with air at 400 CFM? is the 800 CFM representing the maximum air flow ? or what? is the air flow controlable? like make it 500 CFM or 650 CFM using the same diffuser?

the second question is about ducted split HVAC system, indoor and outdoor units are connected using pipes, how are these pipes installed in buildings? is it inside pipe chase like plumbing?

Thank you very much
