A polarity test is used to determine positive and negative status of on object, be it wires, batteries, speakers, electronic equipment, etc. A number of methods can be used depending on what you are testing, but a standard polarity tester works for most everything.

A device with polarity means that electricity can flow in only one direction. A polarized plug has one broad terminal to prevent electricity to the device from flowing in the wrong direction.
