well the time has come for assassins. the fun game where kids run around trying to get each other out. of course supper soakers and other such squirt guns are okay, im looking for something a little more reliable. seeing as every squirt gun I have ever had has fallen apart due to cheap materials and bad designs. I have a decent concept but am having trouble finding the right materials. I figure I won't be able to find a water pump that is afordable but powerfull enough to spray perhaps a 1/4 inch stream a good distance. My idea was to partialy fill a pressure tank with water, say 3/4 of the way. then use an air compressor to bring the pressure up to around 120 PSI. Then using a solinoid valve to relese the water via an opening at or near the bottom of the tank. As the water drains, a pressure switch would turn the compressor back on.The water would flow up a high pressure hose and out of a small section of threaded pipe. Obviously I have taken all safety issues into consideration.

I'm going to be getting into engineering and I would like to explore design programs as it is something essential to the field. What is advised of me to learn? Would it be more prudent to start off w/ cad? What do engineers use most, specifically mechanical and automotive engineers? thanks

My mother has very sensitive hearing, and she lives right next to a new building that has generators put outside inside what, to me, is a sound proof container. My mother says the sound drives her crazy and that it is very loud. And her hearing seems to have been negatively affected by it. I was wondering if there was a practical way to check the sound frequency and intensity and if it was known whether very high frequency sound would cause hearing loss, with any references if possible.

I noticed that the formua for Kinetic Energy (KE=.5mv^2) results in Joules, and Joules can be converted into Watts/Kilowatts, which is the same unit of measure as the energy output of electric generators.

So my question is this: If you have an electric generator that is powered by Kinetic Energy such as Wind or Hydro power, is the calculation for how much energy the generator will generate simply the amount of kinetic energy multiplied by some "Generator efficiency" percentage? And if so what is that percentage called?

Hi I have a project to complete for my university. I am
designing a PDA controlled vending machine. I have made a program on Labview for the PDA. Now when the user opens the software and stands infront of the vending machine he will scan for vending machines.
whatever he wants he then selects that vending machine. the vending machine will have buttons corresponding to 3 slections. When the user selects the button, the microcontroller in the venidng machine will send a signal to a computer that will also be connected to the
microcontroller. If the person has enough balance the microcontroller
will turn the correspoind motor on so it can vend the item. the motor is
24 VAC. the microcontroller also needs to be connected to a bluetooth
tranceiver. My question is that I am looking for the right
microcontroller that can be able to turn on one of the desired motors. I
will connect each motor to the microcontroller though a relay. could you
please guide me how to od it.
