You don't want a strong magnet. But an alternating magnet might work. A demagnetizer uses rapidly reversing magnetic fields to de-magnetize weak magnets. A strong magnet will magnetize your screen further, and distort the colors and picture even more. Sometimes if you turn the TV or monitor off and on, it will help. The degauss function on a monitor is activated when you turn it on. Sometimes it will get demagnetized over time.
