use brass and copper. Then, stick them as close as you can without touching them. and if you want, you can put them in a series. it might even be better to use a large sheet of copper and a large sheet of brass. Then, cut lemon slices, and put them in the middle like a sandwhich.

Use Zinc and Copper. Of commonly available metals they will give you the highest volts.
