I have to write an essay about vertebroplasty, and I've been reading the books and they talk about "transpedicular" and "extrapedicular" approaches for putting the needle in. Can anyone please explain what this means, and what the different is between the two....

Thanks.

Of course pi = 4 / (1-1/3+1/5-1/7+1/9-...)

and there are other infinite series that converge to pi.

But is this the fastest converging series?

Which series, defined using only integers and converging to pi is the fastest?

If I wanted to approximate pi using the first N terms of some series, what series would always get me the closest approximation for any given N? (is this known and is it proven?)

thanks.

In your work you attempt to uncover secrets that nature hide from us, undo things that nature do to us, remake things that nature made but we're not satisfied with. Then on sundays you become a god-fearing man who goes to Church in a suit. Does this trouble you at all?

What if you teach evolution in college and at church you nod when the pastor talks about creation.

What if we were not meant to know all these things we know, are we sinning even more than if we were to relinquish our work and do nothing?

just some random thoughts

I'm looking for a book that best explores the philosophical implcations of modern physics (Quantum Theory, Relativity, etc) in straightforward terms.

Not too dumbed down though. I would like something that's challenging but accessible.

Whats the difference between a comet shower 36 million years ago and the rate at which we see comets nowadays?
I read this article by the late Gene Shoemaker about a comet shower 36 million years ago.
http://mr.caltech.edu/media/lead/052198KF.html

Its called a comet "shower" even though it was spread out over two and a half million years. That sound like now with only a few comets we see in our lifetimes. If one lived back then, would one have seen more comets more often or what?

Respected Sir,
I am an INDIAN.I am here with
a question.Please send me reply after analysing.As
said by you people earlier, that our universe is
expanding, how can it expand? Let us consider our
earth our earth's weight is constant because every
thing born here is getting ended here itself.nothing
outside from earth is comming in contact with earth to
increase the size of earth. So,the weight of earth is
constant. If it expands with some thing comming from
outer space getting dumped in to earth so it expands
&it gets weightened.but nothing is comming from outer
space to increase the weight of earth. In the same way
if our universe is expanding,it should have place for
it's expansion.if so like that, then there should be
other universe.like our earth being one of the planets
in 10 planets revolving around sun, there should be a
no. of universe existing.but you people are saying
that our universe is going in expanding day to day.how
can this be possible?ok,on the basis of movement of
galaxies you are saying.but in a research you have
concluded that only 5% of our universe is filled other
95%being empty.here in our universe new stars being
born&old being died.everything is happening inside
our universe without any other thing entering our
universe entering from outside.our galaxies are just
moving away i.e.filling the remaining 95%of our
universe. So,if our universe is expanding,it's weight
must get increased. But there's nothing like
that.So,only two may be correct,
1.our universe must never be expanding.
2.like our universe there must be a no. of universes
in this super universe in which our universe&other
universe are small universe.
As the great person Einstien said that"limits of
universe is boundless"means there are bounds but we
can't determine it but it has limits as you said because without knowing limits howcan you people say that itis expanding. Like this way I have many doubts.

Thanking You,
Yours sincerely,
