I'm 37 weeks pregnant, dilated to a 2 (almost a 3), and 80% effaced. I've had no contractions, just a lot of pressure and the doctor said the head is really low. Any mom's have any idea on how much longer it might be? I know sex helps labor, but are there any other ways to kick start labor?

My mom is 50, I am 26.

My wife and I are having our baby after being together for 5 years. My mom hated my wife since she "stole" me away from her, and was very unhappy that I got married and "left" her. Now she finally has her first boyfriend in 8 years and my wife is 2 months pregnant with our first child. My mother doesn't know yet.

My mom has told me many times that she is too young to be a grandma, and that she can't put her life on hold for a grandbaby. She is so wrapped up with her boyfriend of 2 months that I think she will think being a grandma will ruin her life or take time away from her boyfriend.

I am expecting her to be very unhappy when we announce the pregnancy at Christmas dinner. I know everyone else will be happy, but how do I deal with my mom? My father is dead, so its hard not to have a parent who is happy for me.

Yesterday I woke up and I had some brownish spotting (no cramps or pain). So I called my doctor and she scheduled an ultrasound for this morning. I went there thinking that I was 7 weeks pregnant but the doctor told me that according to the ultrasound I was only 51/2 weeks. There couldn't hear any heart beats yet. They asked me to get a second ultrasound in 10 days to make sure that the baby is growing. Is this possible even when I have regular period cycles of 28 days? Has anyone else experienced this before? Can the baby just stop growing at week 5 1/2 and stay in my uterus? Thanks much!!

I found out this last week that my baby died six weeks ago. I have yet to miscarry it. Will i expell it? Or is it possible for my body to just absorb it? And are there any known herbs that can induce a miscarriage? I'm trying to avoid a D&C because i don't want to wait 6 months to a year to try again. And also don't necessarily want the medical bill. And please no comments on how it would be best for me to just go ahead with the D&C. Thank you

My wife kind of hinted that she wanted a present after our first baby is born. She mentioned wanting a ring with the baby's birthstone in it so one day she can pass it along to the baby when he or she is older. I wanted to give her something else too.

Do you know any other gifts from a husband to give his wife after having a baby?

After reading tons of "am I pregnant" questions I feel sort of silly posting this question, but let me explain. I took a HPT today and it was the store brand version of EPT...the control line was very clear and visible about 30 seconds into the test; the second test line (that shows up if you are pregnant) didn't show for over a minute, but I went to check on the test about ten minutes later, and there was an extremely faint positive line showing; so faint however, that I wonder if it was a misread, because it does say on the pkg that after ten minutes any reading is "invalid." So have any of you had a test result like that and were indeed pregnant? I should add that I have felt the low-level queasiness and fatigue that I felt with my first pregnancy, but that could also be any number of things, like a lack of iron in my diet or not enough exercise. What are your thoughts; other women out there? What's the next logical step? Take another test? Thanks. :)

Every morning I wake up to find my panties kind of wet. The thing is that I only notice this in the morning right when I wake up...the rest of the day I'm completely dry. It was okay at first, but lately there's definitely been an increase. I still have Braxton Hicks contractions; however, just SOMETIMES they get a little painful at night. Does any of this sound normal? or should I call the doc right away? Please help. Thanks.

Serious answers only please!

First off, let me say in my wife's defense that she never buys clothes and she is very good with money. We have plenty of money to spend on clothes, but I am just wonder if she spent too much on clothes that she will wear only for 9 months.

My wife bought $200 worth of used and new maternity clothes. She bought so many shirts, pants, skirts and tank tops that they cover the entire bed. She said all she needs to buy now are bras.

Did she spend too much on all her clothes? Did I get off cheap? Her reason for spending $200 was that she works so she can't wear sweats all day unless she quits her job.

I am pregnant and due in March, but am conflicting on where to deliver. My midwife delivers at a hospital about 45 mins from our house. I had my first child there with her and loved the experience of a midwife. However, my husband has changed jobs since our last baby and now works at the hospital in our town in the office part of the hospital. The dilema is this: Our insurance will pay 90% + $250 per person per year for any work we have done at the hospital in town. Otherwise they only cover 70%. But they don't have midwife at the hospital in town.
I am torn between the idea of where to deliver because of cost and beause of experience. I like the midwife experience and past experience, BUT cost wise and transportation wise, the local hospital is a better choice. Obviously I am the only one to decide, but any body have any thoughts or ideas from their own experiences with different doctors/ hospitals? I will have my husband and my sister there to help with labor coaching.

I'm 6 weeks pregnant with my first and already my pants are killing me! I'm bloated, kind of like I have gas (sorry) but for like a week now. Does it go away or stay that way until you start expanding, because I know it’s way too soon to start showing? I hadn’t planned on getting new pants for a long time!

My question is...Can you tell how far along you are in a pregnancy just by the symptoms alone? I recently found out I was pregnant, and I have been having symptoms for about three weeks now. How long after conception do the symptoms start? Just curious:) Thank you!
