here in the Uk they give u the choice of having your baby in hospital, midwife led unit or at home. Up until now i was going to go into hospital, but after all the MRSA scares Im seriously tempted to opt for a midwife led unit water birth. Has anyone out there had their baby in such a unit? what was your experience like? did u regret it? were u ok with no epidural etc? Only experienced ladies to answer pls

Everyone I know who went to the hospital and hated it. I know a few people who had midwives in birthing centers of good hospitals, and it was a much MUCH better experience.

Iam getting a midwife, in a good hospital that only delivers healthy pregnancies (they air lift high risk to albany), and gives you any option you want for birth, exept an epi (they say its too unnatural and dangerous, and I agree). Iam using a tub, and I have an amish birthing stool if i decide I want it instead.

Laying in a bed, on your back, hooked up to all sorts of tubes, trying to heave a living body from your own is not natural, and full of all sorts of complications and unneeded stress on your body and the babies.

If you're healthy, and close enough to transfer to a hospital in case of emergency, i'd totally advise you to opt for the midwife and a tub.

Everyone i know said the tub was the same as pain killer in labor. It wasnt an epidural, but it was fast, tolerable, and much more relaxing.

The only fall back is its hot. The water is hot. You are hot. But its relaxing and helpful.

I've never had a midwife, but for my next xhild I plan on having one. My second child I had no epidural, its not too bad without one. I would go with the midwife. after the baby comes you dont even remember all the pain!! good luck with your choice
