My deceased fathers name is Joe. My older brothers name is John and my name is Joe. My wife who is not yet pregnant wanted to name our child if its a boy Joe after me. My brother who is expecting decided he wants to name his child Joe after my father. Should he be aloud to do this? Does my name being Joe give me any right to the name?

My husband and I have been together for four years and married for 5 months. We have a plan to wait 5 years after we got married and we get our lives together (college, careers, and home) before we have kids. Lately though, he keeps talking about babies and how cute I would be pregnant and asking me if Im pregnant every few weeks; even though I am on birth control; and so I take a test and I'm not. Anyway, I tried asking him about if he was having second opinions about waiting for a family; he's in the military and is most likely going to reinlist but he's at home and gets to stay with me. He has been talking about baby names and how he wants a boy. He talks about how he will still tell me Im beautiful and how he wants to spoil me when Im pregnant (although he spoils me all the time anyway). He talks about his friends who's wifes are pregnant or just had a baby. He talks about what kind of dad he wants to be. Do you think he is thinking about us starting a family sooner than planned?

My nearly exclusively breastfed 12 month old son (he eats solids on ocassion, although he's not always interested) is VERY large. He weighs nearly 40 lbs. and is wearing 3 year old clothes. His waist is so chubby though that he can really only wear stretchy sleepers and sweat pants... he's a round meatball!

He's gone to all of his regular checkups and at his last one (8 months) the doctor sais he was just a big boy. WAY off the charts in both weight and length. But lately everyone has been stressing me out. They think that it has something to do with my breastfeeding him on demand and think that I should wean him now and monitor his food intake.

I have two questions really. My questions are...

Is it possible to overfeed a breastfed baby?

and

Are there benefits to nursing beyond the first birthday?

Thanks.

I've been with my husband for a couple years now, and he wants to adopt a child because he doesn't want me to get pregnant. Are there any good adoption agencies I could look into? I'd try to persuade him otherwise, but when it comes to that and fresh coffee, theres just no convincing him.

I just had my baby via c-section Jan 23.The baby is perfect, but I had a really high fever and a severe reaction to antibiotics while in thhe hospital. A good friend (her and her husband are going to be God parents) came to the hospital during my high fever and I was really uncomfortable as it was... we tried to get her to leave but she kept insisting that she was on an antibiotic and she was fine. Finally she left. I came home on Fri night and she wanted to know if she could come that night and I told her no. Then she wanted to come both Sat and Sun and bring her 3 boys ( ages 14, 14 and 12) and bring lunch for everyone. I told her I wasn't up to that much entertainment, but she could come for an hour or so and meet the baby.(her 3 teen age boys raid my pantry and eat and drink everything in sight) I tried to be as honest as I could but she left a voice mail at my house and asked me why I was being so mean to her. How can I get her to understand that I am just not ready for that?

Me and my girlfriend where making love and after we finished we realized the condom which I had bought the day before, had broken (Trojan-ENZ). So I had to take her to planned parenthood and buy her the Plan-B pill which cost me 30$, I was wondering why it broke so I decide to open one of the condoms from the same box, It smelled really foul, and felt stiff, I read the expiration date and it read " EXP 03-20110606" I'm not very sure if it's expired or what but there was definitely something wrong with it. If it was expired, is there something I can do because they sold it to me after it expired? Maybe get my money back or the money I had to spend on the pill? Or maybe any legal actions I can take towards the retailer? Thanks.

My Grampa is my hero, but sadly, he was killed when I was in the third grade. He pretty much raised me and was "father" figure in my life until that point.

I want to honor him, by naming my child after him.

For a girl, I am thinking of Jelena or Alayna, because then we can call her Layney, which is close to Lenny, which is what everyone called him.

But....I was hoping to find a closer alternative to Leonard, possibly? The baby name sites I've been to aren't helpful in giving masculine and feminine versions of each other. :(

PLEASE HELP and thank you so much in advance.

I work in a fish and chip shop on nights just to bring in some extra cash but my bosses insist on smoking around me. Infact their ashtray is half a metre from me. I haven't told them I am pregnant as I do not want them to treat me differently or sack me! I was just wondering how badly being around their smoke could affect my baby.

Im rhesus neg and my daughter is rhesus pos. The doctors have told me that i should have been given an anti d jag within hours of my daughter being born and dont know why i was not given it. I found out i was pregnant but started to bleed very slightly at 11.5 weeks. when i went for an emergency scan i was told that there was no heart beat and had to have a D and C op 2 weeks ago. I am convinced it happened because the antibodies my body produced were attacking my babys red blood cells causing me to miscarry. when asking the doctors about it they dont seem too convincing when they are saying that it would not have caused the miscarriage can anyone give any advice on this please

the problem with both is what happens after pregnancy, as if that's an automatic fact. with incest the baby has genetic issues, and with underage sex they're too young to take care of the kid. but if no one got pregnant, then what's the big deal?

we both have mixed emotions about what to do, we both feel as if we are too young and hav'nt lived our lives yet but we dont think we could go through with the abortion because we will both be heart broken and are scared that we will regret it in later life we are both there for each other as we have been for 2 years and this is the biggest obstical yet we dont agree on adoption could we have some advice please from people that have already been through this our parents both know and said they will stick by us whatever decision we make.

hi there

i need a bit of advice

my girlfriend is pregnant 3 months and has just found out that she will be getting made redundant as the textile firm she works for is "downsizing".

she may get a small redundancy pay out but it will not be much,
i myself work and my basic gross pay is £21,800, we have a morgage on a house and have the usual bills to pay, and a 4 year old son.

so we were counting on her maturnity pay from her employer to help us out when she was on leave. but now she obviously wont be getting that, and there is no chance of her getting another job as no one employs a pregnant woman.

does any one know if she is entitled to maturity money from the government , or tax credits how do we find out what we are entitled too.

many thanks

and please dont just say for me to get a better paid job, because jobs dont pay very well in northern ireland and id need a degree to get more money than im on now, lol

cheers

I had clips put on back in 2002. I am now officially 12 days late. I have no stress in my life, maintain a healthy active lifestyle, and do not use any other form of BC. I actually JUST saw my OBGYN for an unrelated issue and she asked for the date of my last menstrual, which was in Dec sometime, around Christmas. Nothing in Jan. A few months ago I went off the Pill, but was only on it for 5 months to help lessen cramps. Wasn't working so I went off. I'm usually very reg and I have done a HPT (First Response Early Detection) It came back Neg.I however did it in the evening, after I drank 4 cups of water, then found out that can dilute the result anyways.I am going to wait another week b4 I do another one. Basically, has anyone else ever gotten pregnant after the clips were put in, and how long after and was it a reg pregnancy? Or a tubal?
Thanks :-)

I'm curious - how many parents here teach their children to ask the owner before approaching a strange dog?

My dog is afraid of small children (she was mistreated before I got her). I'm trying to train her to get used to people and not be nervous, but it's hard to take her out in public - not because she misbehaves (she's big but very gentle), but because I'm always having to block strange children from running up and touching her - or, to my amazement, grabbing, hitting, or even trying to kick at her! It seems like only one out of twenty will ask politely before trying to approach her (I'm so glad for those polite kids!).

Why don't people teach their children to ask first? As a parent, what would your response be if your child ran up to a strange dog and the owner blocked the child and said "No! please leave the dog alone - she's afraid". Would you get angry & defensive, or would you stop & think about teaching your child to ask before approaching a strange dog?
