i just need to know for my own good but i do not want the father to know i am doing it is there another type of sample i can collect other then saliva? we have been together for a year and some change the baby is 4 months now and she really does not look like him he is black and i am white and the baby is really white the nose is the only destinct feature i just want to know i know he is but i guess i just want to see it on paper

ok i am not going to lie there is another person and he is black also and the baby really just does not look like either one of them the other guy is to far away to test so i was just trying to come up with a way to do it with out him knowing and when the time is right i tell him i was never with ethier one of them until i found out i was preg. then this guy kind of just stood by me from then on either on of them know bout eachother the other guy has never seen her and never called

Does it matter that much? I mean, if this guy is willing to be the babies father, why give him any reason to change his mind? I assume he doesn't know about your thing with the other guy (which is hopefully long since over). If you think you have a shot at being with this guy forever, and if you're messin' around on him is over and done (and you aren't gonna do it again)... I'd just assume it's his and move on. Like someone else said, if he has to submit to the test, he will lose any trust he has in you (which obviously might be misplaced trust anyway) and you'll be jeapordizing your relationship. You'll also be threatening the babies relationship with his father...whether biological or not.
On top of all that... what if it's not his? Are you gonna tell him, again risking the relationship? Or are you gonna hold that secret the rest of your life, causing you stress and anxiety? No good can come from knowing.

You must have some doubt other than how the baby looks to be worried about this. If you were only with this man there would be no other chance, right?? I don't see any other way then to get him to submit to the test. If you do this be prepared for him not to trust you anymore, anyone would feel this way. By the way the baby can be completely white and still be his. Did you see that set of twins where one was black and one was white and one parent was black and one was white???

If you didnt cheat on him and havent had sex with any one else all since they two of you have been together then there is no way the baby is not his... common sense ya know? When a child is mixed there is no way to tell what skin color they will have. Just because she looks white doesn't mean she is not part black. You can probably do a hair sample too.

1st - You need to understand genes. Just because your baby looks more white does't mean it isn't black. Some people have stonger genes then others. The "white" is probably more dominant.
2nd - Obviously you messed around if you think the baby isn't his. If this is the case you can always try to find the other guy you banged and have him do the saliva test instead of your current man.

First of all it is not fair. The baby skin colour has nothing to do with who the father is or rather his is the father what it is saying is that your genetic make up is more dominant than his or theres. You can always wait until he is sleeping and swab his mouth he would not know a thing.

At 4 months, you can't tell who the baby's father is by the way she looks now.

That's what being between a rock and a hard place feels like. tests the other guy instead of him then. (I assume there's another guy?)
If it helps you at all, my friend is mixed just like me (white mom black dad) and she looks whiter than her mom but looks just like her dad. The only thing that makes her look black is her nose and kinky hair.

The test should come with directions that will tell you if anything other than saliva can be used.
