I'm 50 and a smoker! I have 3 grown children whom are healthy, I smoked with all 3.
They are trying to blame a lot on smokers! It's a bunch of bull!

Passive? You mean secondary smoke? That's worse than what the smoker is inhaling! All I can say is that the whole house will stink of smoke. Don't be surprised if your baby becomes a bit "green around the gills"! She'll probably start having some upper respiratory symptoms shortly after you folks settle in! I am quite sure you will start to feel nauseous after a couple of hours after you get there! Your in-law's home is literally a bio hazard! Just being in that environment for 24 hours will permeate all your clothing! The reason your "in-laws" don't notice is that their sense of smell is basically "shot"! I know a lot of people that smoke but they don't even smoke in their own home! Whether he washes his hands after smoking or whether he's smoking or not, he'll smell like "human ashtray"! All I can tell you is that you should really consider finding another place to stay for those 3 weeks or else your baby is going to be sick. You'd think in this day and age people would smarten up (at least for the sake of their grand daughter)!

Second hand smoke can have detrimental effects on your unborn fetus just as if you were smoking yourself.
If you live in the US and your city doesn't have a no smoking ordinance, then your boss has the right to smoke in the shop. And, if you were to tell your boss, what's to keep the customers from smoking or other coworkers? Their right to smoke is no different than your right to not be around smoke. So exercise your right and quit. If you are truly concerned about the health of your baby and the potential impact that second had smoke might have, find another job. Good luck!

It is bad because the oxygen you breathe is what gets to your baby. Your babies lungs are developing and they need good air to develop properly, otherwise you are risking birth defects. If I were you I would kindly ask them to stop smoking around you, and if they don't do it, then I would quit. A bit of extra cash is not worth your baby having defects. If they fire you because you are pregnant, you can take legal action, as pregnancy is protected by law can cannot be the sole reason an employer uses for firing someone.

It probably won't hurt that much but being a mother means everytime you child gets sick you wonder....Was it that smoking. It's easier to protect them when they're in front of you living and breathing and crying. Your baby is a person and if you wouldn't let them blow smoke into it's crib, then why into you? Get a job at a pet store or movie store, don't stay there if they won't stop and totally tell them your pregnant in case something happens in the future

if your in such close proximity you MUST tell them. any close smoking like that is harmful!! its not worth harming your child. in the next few months it will be even more tiring being on your feet. if they sack you for that, threaten them with a lawsuit. you have rights. if you leave, you should get help from DWP eventually 'maternity allowance' and a one-off 'maternity payment' to help you buy things you need for the baby. in the UK its £500 i believe. talk to your midwife for advice.
TELL THEM OR LEAVE is my advice. . put yours/baby's health first.

You really should tell him. Second hand smoke is worse then first hand and it's worse for your unborn child. If you don't want your child to have any health prolbems. I suggest you tell them. If you lose that job then you weren't meant to have it but your baby should be more important to you then any job.

i think that you need to tell them as soon as possible that way they don't think that you tried to hide it honesty is the best policy, ut as far as some second head smoke i'd say it probably wouldn't hurt much, but staying away is the best policy.

it could complicate your pregnancy so you should tell your bosses so they might stop smoking around you and the baby will have less chance of complication.
