Absolutely not. However, a bad parent can be the only reason for a child's failure.

Certainly not "only", but yes, when it comes to numbers, I would say 50-60% depending on the child as an individual.
Other things like sibling presence, social circle, extended family, , etc are obvious factors.
Also, if your a mother, don't think much as to whether you're doing the right thing or not. A child's success= 60% on how what is shown to him and 40% to what he interpretes it to be.
Enjoy! ^_^

Your question doesn't really make sense, parents do contribute to a child's success as they are his/her first teacher, they teach him/her values and soicalize her/him, it 's true. They even provide part of the child's genetic makeup, however it's what the child does with the information, education, behaviour, socialization that really determines whether or not a child succeeds. It also is determined by the kind of community and society a child grows up in and the societal values that also have an impact on whether a child will be a success or not .

And another factor that plays an important part is that child's sense of self-esteem , whether he or she thinks of him/herself as worthy, capable of happiness and success.

You have to take responsibility for your own success. No matter what environment you come from it is your responsibility to educate yourself and make yourself successful. Start somewhere. Get your diploma or GED, go to a vocational school. Learn everything you can learn. When you see someone who is successful, ask them how they became successful. The most influential reason people are successful is because they work very hard at everything they do, and they do not give up and they do not blame their failures or their success on anyone but themselves.

Age old question... nature vs. nurture.

My opinion is NOPE. Their home life/parents/teachers/friends/neighbors/clergy/bullies/heros/ natural learning abilities and habits will all play a part in a child's success.

Neither of my parents graduated HS, but my mom worked hard 3 jobs when I was growing up...dad was a bum. I went to college, had a high paying job, married a great guy and now stay home with my little girl and work only part time in my field just to stay fresh. I have lots of friends, a good support network and faith.

Guess it also depends on what you meausure as "success"

How you are raised as a child reflects how you will manage life when you get older. Parents have a lot to do with it yes, though as you get older you learn that you are your own person and you can make decisions too. That is all part of growing up.

no i dont agree, it is the surrounding where he is, the school teachers and the most is the CHILD himself... as the children of the same family, both get the same educationa and everything but one can be a doctor and the other a clerk... it depends on the ability of the child how much good he can take from the people

of course they aren't the only reason for a child's success but they certainly contribute with good guidance, discipline, unconditional love, patience and time spent with their kids!

No. A lot of it depends on the child too, as well as the surroundings and opportunities available.
