My Grampa is my hero, but sadly, he was killed when I was in the third grade. He pretty much raised me and was "father" figure in my life until that point.

I want to honor him, by naming my child after him.

For a girl, I am thinking of Jelena or Alayna, because then we can call her Layney, which is close to Lenny, which is what everyone called him.

But....I was hoping to find a closer alternative to Leonard, possibly? The baby name sites I've been to aren't helpful in giving masculine and feminine versions of each other. :(

PLEASE HELP and thank you so much in advance.

How about Leona or Leah. (A variation of Leo)

If you would like for everyone to call her Layney, why not name her Layney?

Luna is cute, yet Krystal is the call of a quickly nutrition eating place. And that is trashy, so yeah... How approximately Lola, Lila, Lulu, Lily...any combination of those could be stable. Lola and Lily.

How about Leaona (Lay-on-ah) or (Lee-on-ah). At least it is close in spelling to Leonard. Good for you for wanting to honor him. I did the same with my children. I hope you find a name that suits your daughter!
