First of all, there is no reason a child can't use a pacifier. My daughter did. It was her comfort thing. She used them until she was almost 2 and then she started biting the tips off, so I told her she was too big for them and she threw them away. Being cruel about it will cause more harm than good to the child. Putting stuff on them like others suggest is cruel. Just like some have a blankie or pillow or stuffed animal that comforts them, some children have their pacifiers. And no it won't affect their teeth. When she's ready she'll give it up.

depends on how old the child is, i mean i think pacifiers are ok to some extent but depending on the age, it bothers me when I see a three year old with a pacifier in his/her mouth I just want to run up and pull that thing out that is too old to have a pacifier hanging out in their mouth. Just take the pacifier away and say no more and it might be hard for a few days but eventually she will get over it.

What i did with my daughter was this. I threw all but one away and i took her out. Stopped by a huge bin and acted like it mistakenly fell into the bin. She cried for it for the next three days and each time i reminded her that it fell in the bin. She was over it in less than week. Goodluck!

what? If you are asking how to break your daughter from her pacy, I would suggest cutting the tip off it. That's what I did with my oldest daughter. She put it in her mouth a few times, and tried to suck on it. It just went flat and she looked at it funny. Then, she carried it around for about a day. After that, she forgot all about it. Good luck to you.

that can be tough, my daughter was easily broken at 1 yr, but now her baby brother uses them, and she's constantly putting them in her mouth! I just tell her that those are for babies, not big girls like you, you can play with real toys, and unless she's in the mood to play baby, she gives it to the baby and says poor baby can't play toys like me! Good luck, if you can, just throw them away, she'll adjust fast, and you don't want her to be one of those 3 or 4 yr olds you see with soothers...

I don't think she will believe you. Just talk to her and tell that she's big enough to use the pacifier and only babys do it.

Do you REALLY need to be asking this question?
Toss them or dip one in fresh super glue next time she starts heading for one...that will teach her.
