We are debating whether circumcision has any medical basis. Someone in our group said that blood stop flowing to the penis shortly after birth so that the penis would not bleed as much during circumcision.

He is 5 1/2 months old. I have to rock him to sleep and be very gentle when I put him down or he wakes up. Crying it out isn't working. I've let him go for over an hour and I felt like I was being cruel. I basically have given up and he sleeps most of the night with me, but I think that disturbs both of us. My 2 oldest boys weren't this stubborn. Tips anyone?

I'm 39 weeks pregnant with a girl and we have a 3 1/2 year old son. I would like to give my son some kind of gift when i get out of the hospital. I dont want it to just be a toy, i would like something that he will remember and keep. But at the same time be something he can enjoy now. I dont want cheesy big brother stuff. I've been racking my brain for months now and its coming down to the end and i cant think of anything good.

Just something special from mommy! Any ideas????

It has been generally forbidden to add salt and sugar to baby's very first solid foods. But I don't know exactly what type of harm they do to the babies. Can I get answers from the professionals please? From which agegroup I can start adding those?

I had my first child (son) 4 months ago. So this is all new to me and life is very different. How do you keep yourself sane? I feel so alone everyday with my fiance at work and feel like I'm surrounded with nothing but my house. Also how do you get the motivation when you feel so down and alone. This has nothing to do with mothering my son (if any SAHM no what I mean)and this is also hard for me to ask. Thanks for any serious answers.

I just bought a lead testing kit from Lowes and found a couple of spots in my home that are positive for lead paint we live in an older house we've been renting for about 9 months now and my youngest is 8 months she's been living there her whole life. I'm starting to worry about both of my children (oldest is 3). If anyone has had any experiences with lead poisoning or know any information please let me know. Thank you very much.

My son is almost 6 months old. I have always just breastfed him. Up until about a month ago I always had plenty so I could pump if I needed to leave him & leave a bottle. But now I have NO milk to spare. Ive tried formuls & he willl not take it. I even tried mixing half formula, half breastmilk to help with the switch. If I dont figure something out Ill never get to leave the house without my son again! Is there anyway to get my milk going again so I can pump too?

My obgyn said I would probably be able to breast feed but wanted me to ask the pediatrician. I chose one that was recommended by more than 1 person. He said the only reason not to breast feed would be if you were HIV positive. Seems a little extreme. However I am already taking effexor now while preganant. I at least want to breast feed in order to ween the baby off of it so she doesn't go through withdrawls.

My son is 4 months old and I have decided to stop breastfeeding for numerous reasons. He is doing great with the stopping, but I am having trouble with it. Does any one have any tips on how to keep the pain and engorgement down? And how long will it take for my milk to dry up?

My 10 month old is sick and has dirreah. I change his diaper every two hours or so (everytime he poops). There is even a spot that has started bleeding. I've tried desitin, A&D, cornstarch, balmex, vasaline and I've tried letting him "air out". Can someone help my baby???

I have an active 19mo also and it so much more convenient to feed my 2wk old expressed milk than to actaully nurse her. My problem is that b/c she no longer nurses or desires to, my milk supply is decreasing. I want to try to breast feed now that I have my 19mo in daycare so I have a little more time. I can't afford formula so I am desperate to breast feed again or be able express the milk again. Previously I was able to pump out at least 8 oz per breast daily. Now, I am lucky if I can get 4-5 oz out of both breasts daily. This has been going on now for 3 days. What can I do?

I need to get something for a baby shower (baby boy) and don't want to purchase off of the babies r us registry.

This all started with them before my son was ever born. My fiance's mom always makes comments that irritate me when it comes to our son. Like for instance when we signed up for a gift registry for our baby shower she said our stroller looked cheap. I don't understand as to why these things even need to be said. We also got christmas pictures of him and she said she liked everything but the binky in his mouth. I won't go on an on here because there are many more things but my fiance says I take things too personally, am I? And also they will be coming here for a visit how can I deal with all this, should I keep my mouth shut if something bothers me or stand my ground a little bit?
