I just bought a lead testing kit from Lowes and found a couple of spots in my home that are positive for lead paint we live in an older house we've been renting for about 9 months now and my youngest is 8 months she's been living there her whole life. I'm starting to worry about both of my children (oldest is 3). If anyone has had any experiences with lead poisoning or know any information please let me know. Thank you very much.

The biggest concern with lead paint is if it is peeling. This is especially true in the kitchen where it can enter food prep areas and be ingested, or on window sills, where a baby may "chew" on it. The best thing you can do is take your children to the Dr. and have their lead levels tested. As you probably know, any damage is irreversible but at least that way you know for sure. You need to paint several layers of fresh paint on these areas, your landlord may even pay for this to be done, or some government programs can help with this cost too. Call your local health department to find out. Hope this helps :)

Don't let the kids eat the paint.
Your problem is going to be the "renting" part. You would need to convince your landlord that he should remove the lead paint and repaint with latex. His first question will be, "Why? Just don't eat the paint."
My experiences with lead poisoning have been growing up in SoCal in the sixties when idiots added tetraethylene lead to their gasoline and then threw it into the air. I spent my developing years breathing the stuff. I love the AQMD. I'm still smart, I guess, but probably not as smart as I could have been. There is an anger problem, but that is likely genetic, not acquired.
