Does anyone know a home remedy for diaper rash?

My 10 month old is sick and has dirreah. I change his diaper every two hours or so (everytime he poops). There is even a spot that has started bleeding. I've tried desitin, A&D, cornstarch, balmex, vasaline and I've tried letting him "air out". Can someone help my baby???

Last month my daughter had diaper rash so bad that her bottom started bleeding. It seemed as though the Desitin was only making it worse, so we resorted to vaseline and cornstarch. In addition, the best non-medicinal and non-ointment remedy is every few hours put your baby in the bath or shower and rinse his bottom off. Pee and diarreah are very acidic and can irratate the skin, and wipes alone might not be cleaning his skin enough...

Never fails and cheap: get some warm water and corn starch (only use pure cornstarch - not the kind that comes with talc powder) and make a PASTE, smear it all over the affected areas and add clean diaper. Add more paste with each change and cleanup. You'll see it begin to disappear in a day or 2. Just using dry cornstarch does nothing.

beaudreuxs butt paste works well and to dry things up use gold bonds baby powder (not the adult stuff the baby is in a white can). If you can find it borofax helps with a yeast type rash, your pharmacist may be able to mix it up, call your doctor and ask if they know where to find an apothecary. Its basically boric acid and lanolin and helps especially when its a yeast based infection. If its warm enough try taking him outdoors and letting him get some sun on his behind....sunlight is wonderful for battling this sort of thing but ofcourse in moderation, you dont want a sun burn on top of everything else.

your baby may have a yeast infection (very common with diarrhea) If the rash is a nasty red you can try putting clortrimizole ( OTC antifungal cream) on it. I actually just read about it in Parents magazine a few months ago. My dr has always given me Nystatin (antifungal cream) for my kiddies diaper rash and it works great. Usually cleared within a day. Be careful of what you put on a open area on the skin. You could make it worse. I would air out that little booty as much as possible. if it means you lay down a couple towels and wrap him up in a towel so you contain any mess. Wipe his bottom with wet gauze pads instead wet ones. You can get them by the first aide stuff. Fill a tub with warm water and a little baking soda and let him soak in it a couple times a day. Direct sunlight has always worked for my kids, Just for a few minutes. Also, cheap diapers are not worth the hassle try a better brand and you'll save $ in rash creams, and laundry.

This is very old, My baby is now 39 but I had a lot of trouble with diaper rash until I took a fruit jar and filled it full of cotton balls then filled the jar with mineral oil put a lid on the jar and keep it on your changing table.. Every time I change her I cleaned her good with the cotton balls. It worked for her.

Is he on an antibiotic? If he is on an antibiotic it may be a yeast infection and not a diaper rash. My son got this when he was younger. I had to get a prescription from the doctor, because no diaper cream, or powder would work.

If you are changing him every two hours, he will probably continue the rash until he can stay dry a little longer. I always used "budreaux butt paste" by the rash creams. It looks a lot scarrier than it probably is to him. All you can do is keep him clean and hydrated and wait for the diareah to cease.

Have you tried giving him a bath with just a little bit of baby oil in the water? After the bath put A&D on him and then baby powder. That is what I use to do for my son.
