You can use cold cabbage leaves and put them in your bra to help relieve engorgement. I took Sutafed this helps to dry up too. It has to be the one you get behind the pharmacy counter. Not the one with PE on the label. It just doesn't always work. As for how long will it take for your milk to dry up. It can take up to 6-8 months or even longer. I stopped breastfeeding my son at 14 months and he is 22 months now and I still get a little milk if I squeeze the nipple. Not that much though. Since you only breastfed for 4 months it might not be as long for you. Good luck

Unfortunately you will have to let your body dry up on its own. It took me a good 2 weeks to be relieved from the pain completely. Best thing to do is bind yourself down, as tight as you can stand. I am going to attach a link where you can purchase one. You can use an ace bandage, but the binders are easier to use. Depending on how much milk you produce, it will vary on how long it will take you to dry up completely. And of course you should take some sort of anti-inflammatory such as ibuprofen to help with swelling. But whatever you do, once you start this process, do not express your milk.
Good Luck .. and here is the link:

Good Luck.

a million. commence through eliminating a feed an afternoon. i began with the after lunch snack, then lunch, then dinner, evening snack, then breakfast. supply your baby a bottle or sippy cup with regardless of breastmilk option you experience comfortable with. I used watered down goats milk in a NUK sippy cup. My son became almost 10 month previous so i did not imagine formulation became mandatory or ideal. 2. don't be complicated. once you're taking a seat to both nurse proceed to finish that on your standard position. this may help your toddler experience comfortable and shelter. do not supply your baby a sippy cup option on your established nursing position or position. that's complicated and could bring about crying, frantic rooting, and also you feeling like a heel (or giving in). i got here upon that sitting down with my son dealing with out (his decrease back to my abdomen) worked really nicely. He under no circumstances nursed in this position (how might want to he?) so there became no confusion. The extra distraction of a e book on my knees helped keep him entertained at the same time as he drank his milk. also, it will be effective to have someone except you feed the toddler interior the morning. This became the hardest one for my son to take because he became used to snuggling into mattress with me for breakfast and a cuddle. My husband would not scent like milk so James wasn't wondered through a cuddle and a sippy cup from him. 3. stay comfortable. experience your breasts as you remove feedings. in the journey that they experience very complete, leaky, or complicated then you truly would opt to pump or exhibit some milk. do not pump a lot you position off enable down. this may keep your milk furnish going, which isn't what you opt for. basically confirm you're comfortable and also you do not leave gallons of mik on your breasts.

You didn't stop cold turkey did you?? I suggest cutting down one feeding a week so that your body can adjust slowly. Every feeding you skip supplement with a bottle. In another week or so try to cut back another feeding etc.
