Ok...I am having my son in 6 weeks and have picked out the name Tommy. I chose it b/c I Love the Rugrats!! I named my 3 year old Dylan so I could call him Dill Pickles, and want his brother to be named Tommy so I can call them the Pickle Brothers. I know this is kinda immature, but I have always wanted it like that. Also, Tommy's middle name is going to be Lee after his father, but my mother is having a fit!!!!! She doesn't like Tommy Lee.... so she doesn't want me to name my son that. Give me some input on this name and let me know what you think. Should I forget my Rugrat obsession and think of a different name, or go with what I want and stay with Tommy?

Her last poop was at 6am this morning, it is now 5:23 and about 30 minutes ago she pooped a little bit, it looked harder than her regular poops. I think it may be cause I just switched her from breastmilk to formula. She is 10 days old. Is it okay to give her juice? If so, should i dilute it with water? I heard juice is okay for babies, but shes really young, and im not sure what age they mean when they say "babies".

Our little boy is 6weeks old. He's breastfed only and is putting on nearly a pound each week!

He feeds CONSTANTLY though! My poor wife feeds every two or three hours without fail - she hasn't slept properly in ages, I've fed him breastmilk in a bottle to give her a rest but she's just exhausted.

We suspected that many of his feeds were comfort feeds as e doesn't always take milk and cries unless he's on his mum!

Tonight.... we gave him a dummy - we had sworn to ourselves we wouldn't... but instantly he started sucking away and then fell asleep!!! Little Jack never sleeps!!

He seems to have a real need to suckle - feel guilty though!!!!!!

Has anyone had any weird menstrual cycles while breastfeeding? With my first child my cycle did not resume until I quit breastfeeding. However now with baby #2 I had a short period 1-2 days last month and I am going on 8 days this month. Should I contact my OBGYN or is this one of those issues not to worry about.

I haven't been able to leave my 1 yr old with a babysitter for even an hour (though my parents watch him all the time)... I just can't imagine leaving him with a stranger, but maybe I do need to do this -- at least the person who watches babies while moms take fitness classes at my club??

How do mothers handle having people out of the family / strangers to the kids with them for an extended period of time? Is it not as much of a risk as you hear (and I believe it to be...)?

Any suggestions for the first time we do decide to have a babysitter? (I'm thinking do this only when the baby is old enough to talk and tell us if something was wring)... thanks!

I am breast feeding my 5 week old daughter. She was recently diagnosed with thrush and I got it on my breast as well. Shortly after we found this out she got a bump on her face. It got bigger and developed a yellowish head to it. It has now spread from her cheek all the way to her ear and her other cheek. My question is could the yeast infection spread to the skin on her face? Thanks in advance.

I would to spend some time snuggling young children. I have had heart valve surgery and identify with the trauma associated with that. Besides, I LIKE babies.

My sister had a baby on the 21st and she was supposed to go home today but the dr. said they want her to stay because the baby's white blood count is really high. They tested him for Strep a and b and they both came back normal. They have an IV in the baby for antibiotics and they say he is doing better, but I just dont understand what this high white blood count could mean??

Where does SIDs supposively come from and how do infants get it? I have a baby book on it but doesn't explain in full.

Both of my kids slept on their tummys and had no problem, that's the only way I could get them to sleep.

I don't understand why people like to throw their kids away because they did drugs during preg. and announce it to the world.

I really don't understand voting on illegalizing abortions when people need them for medical health problems like a friend of mine who got raped.

I am 8 months pregnant and plan on breastfeeding when baby arrives. I heard that the Ameda Purely Yours breast pump is comparable to the Medela but a lot cheaper. Has anyone used the Ameda and is it as good as the Medela? I really don't want to spend $250 on a breast pump
