wow...people sure have some strong opinions! I think many people misunderstood that i was asking about a mattress PAD. At 10 months, he IS capable of rolling over, sitting up or even turning his head. I'm pretty sure my 27 lb baby wont sink too far into a 1 1/2 inch pad. AND anyone who has or has seen one knows that they are very firm. when I asked this question, I was hoping to get answers from people who can read and comprehend, or have knowledge of the product. thanks to those of you who tried to be helpful. good luck with your new baby ericka k. I hope you get a boy (4 sons/1- 14 year old daughter)they are all the fun with half the hytserics...lol. ps had to pick baby 1 as best, because it was the dumbest answer given...peace and long life, all.

Memory Foam Crib Mattress

This is a very bad idea. Even though the baby is technically out of the SIDS range when a child or even an adult is on one of those pads they can suffocate if laying on their stomach. Keep a regular crib mattress and wait until he is old enough for a big boy bed for a different mattress. Good Luck!

it is not safe. use a regular mattress. besides, even if it were safe, what in the world does a 10 month old need a memory foam mattress for anyway?

thats probably not very safe because if he rolls over, his face will sink down into the mattress and he might not be able to breath where as a stiff mattress will hold his head up so he wont suffocate. I know chances are slim, but do you really want to take that risk?

Why in the heck would you want a memory foam pad for an infant? Are you insane? Just get a regular mattress, GEeeesh

i would just use a normal mattress if he is perfectly healthy. I think memory mattresses are reall only ment for people with back problems. Dont worry about it. My 2 year old has a mattress from Toys r us, and she is perfectly happy with it!

I wouldn't think so because a crib mattress is supposed to be pretty rigid,to ensure that the baby doesn't sink into it and smother themselves.

Yes, just make sure that you lay the baby on it's back because it could sufficate if you lay it face down. Later Bra. P.S. (you can find a really good deal on brand new mattresses at eBay

I would not! Infants are supposed to have a FIRM sleep surface and memory foam is too cushy and gives too much. I think it would be a SIDS risk.

I don't know why not.As long and it is right up against the inside of the crib bars I see no problem with it. Thats what u have to look out for...So the child can't get caught inbetween the bars and the mattress.Good luck.
