Adolescent - November 2006

Ok, so Christmas is coming up and i wanna get my gf something very special, but im not entirely sure what to get her, i have a few ideas, like say a teddy bear or maybe paint her something, but i dont find those things so special. shes a very nice girl, likes cats and animals and bugs, is very sweet. I want to get her something she won't forget any ideas?

My ex and I are not speaking and haven't spoke in a year since I and my son pressed charges on him for trying to strangle my 14 year old son. There relationship is getting better even to the point he has been to his dads house. My son had surgery this morning and he had not heard from dear old dad. I could tell he was sad so when he came out of recovery I called dads office told secertary I was my son so he could talk to him. Dad did have a short howd it go conversation but never mentioned on seeing him. Could you live with yourself or am I asking to much to have the man at least act like he gives a sh-t. I would have even offered to leave the room if he would have shown up but he did not.

My 14 y/o stepdaughter is very bright, does well in school but, when it comes to using common sense, she's a bit of a dink (I don't tell her that, it's just my way of describing). I could actually see her holding a glass of water and turning that wrist over to look at her watch and spilling the water on the ground. Is common sense inherit or learned? What can I do to help her gain some common sense without making her feel bad about herself.

I don't get in troubles, get good grades and have a kinda good relatioinship w/ my parents. I talk to them and never lie. But saturday I ended up giving in to per pressure, joined a crowd my parents don 't ike that much and went on a motorcylcke ride w/ a 15 yo boy. Murphy law, we had a small accident. Nothing seriuos, I just hurt my knee a bit. My dad saw, asked what had happened,. I was so ashamed that I said I had slipped on a stair. He said Oh hun, washed my wound, put a medicine on it. I felt terribly bad cause I was lying, and even worse cause dad gave me a kiss and said Now it won't hurt any more. Well, apparently everthing is OK, but my conscience hurts really bad. My parents are nice, trust me, dad belived me though my shirt was torn, and I wasn't enough honest to admit I had messed up. I can't sleep, but Im kinda ashamed. Should I tell them the truth and apologize? I'm afraid they do'nt trust me any more. Should I be punished?

My daughter has always been such a great kid, until she started Jr. High this year. She's now constantly just downright hateful to me, her younger sis, and my husband (her stepdad). Like yesterday, my husband was using the restroom at home, and like men do, he was taking a bit longer cuz ya know, his stomach hurt. (LOL)Anyway, she yelled at the top of her lungs through the door, "Leroy, come on already! Get out of the bathroom! MY GOSH!!" And it was so hateful and so disrespectful and I had just HAD it with her bad attitude that I took her by her arm and made her face me and I said, "You DO NOT speak to your stepdad that way! Go to your room."
Lately, every time she gets hateful or defiant I punish her with a chore she hates..I make her fold one load of laundry each time she gets in trouble. Over two nights last week, she ended up folding 7 loads of laundry, but STILL didn't stop the rudeness!
I tried to get her into individual counseling, but our insurance won't pay!HELP!

My niece is 15 and just over 6 weeks pregnant to an 18yo that she was sneaking out late at nite to meet in an alleyway. She is very immature for her age and more like a 12yo. Should the father of the baby be reported for carnal knowledge? What are the legal ramifications, if there are any. She lives with her grandmother who is in her late 60's and not in the position of looking after her and the baby because of her schedule that she has with her commitments. None of her aunts and uncles believe that she should go ahead with the pregnancy at all as we all know her well and know that she won't cope. Any suggestions or comments are appreciated.

I am only 12 and I look at really bad things on the net and tv! (sex, etc.) My parents don't even think I know about sex yet, they haven't had the talk with me, and I'm not about to mention it. i went downstairs around 5:30pm and asked my mom what we were having for dinner, and she told me beans. instead of eating the beans, i had a bowl of cereal. my dad comes into the kitchen and says "you kids are so spoiled, you wont even eat whats made for you..." im 18yrs old, shouldnt i be able to eat what i want?

She is 14, she lies to me all the time, for example, she told me her grades were all B's and C's. Then she "forgot" to bring home her report card, so I went to the school and she has all D's and F's. She rarely gets away with her lies, and I don't know why she does it or what to do about it.
