Adolescent - October 2006

I have to add to the question regarding 13 y/o that in this day in age you cannot physically make a child do anything because it is considered abuse. There is no place to take him because he has not done anything "wrong" or committed any crimes. When I was coming up if you didn't do what your parents told you...well you just did what they told you..there was no questioning it. Today, kids feel like they can do what they want. Oh yeah, checked into these so called boot camps "$5,000+".

This child has gone from honor roll to a D average. He is talking back and totally defiant to the point that he is no longer wanted in the house. He does not care about his appearance, has to be told to bathe, and does exactly the opposite of what he is told. He is disrespectful in school and at home. Over the summer it was revealed that he had smoked marijuana on more than one occasion. All signs seem to point to this but cannot be sure. Some say he's just being a teenager. The father has moved out of state and is of little help since his remedy is "talking to him." I feel more drastic measures are needed to prevent this child from heading in the wrong direction. Any suggestions? P.S. He refuses counseling.

I am not a parent of a teen, i am a 17 year old daughter of my parents, anywho... what on earth do you guys mean when you say to kids " i love you, but i don't like you!" my mom said this to me, and i dont see the logic in it...isn't likeing someone a feeling that would come before love, so therefore if you love someone, dont you automatically like them :S Parents are soooo confusing, say what u mean, mean wut u say!

My son has no drive or passion for anything, whether it is food, friends, or school, or anything else. My son has been like this for his whole life and i'm worried that he will not change. Despite my lectures to explain the importance of working hard, to survive this world, he jsut doesn't seem to get it or act upon it.. How can i help make him realize that he must do something on his own to survive this world?

Every Halloween I always remember back to when I was around 7 or 8 years old. I was Trick or Treating in my grandma's neighborhood. I was walking up the sidewalk to their front door and right when I got to the porch these two teenage boys sprang out of the ground! They had dug a hole and buried themselves under dirt and woodchips and jumped out screaming when I got up there! I was so freaking scared--and mad! Do you have any Halloween memories like that from when you were little? What are they?

I'm 13 and went trick or treating tonight then I went to this house and an old lady in a wheel chair was giving out candy I went up to get some and she told me I was too old and didn't give me any candy I didn't say anything back because she was in a wheel chair I was upset about what she said and just wanted to cry I asked my mom to take me home as I was leaving in the car she was giving out candy to other people even people older then me I wasn't rude to her,do you think im too old or could I had did something wrong which I didn't?

okay so ive been on and off with this guy that im goin to call eric.
when me and eric first got together, my friends got really mad at me! they said that he is a "bad influence" to my life.
the reason they probably say this is because he drinks, he smokes, he used meth when he was 11 until 13 and he gets in a lot of trouble too.

i live in Texas with my mom and step dad, they have nothing to do with me. i try to talk to them but they don't listen. there's drugs all in house with people day and night. i want to get emancipated and live with my soon to be husband.he's goin to be 18 on dec.19 of 06.i'v looked at just about all the web sites possible but i need to know that if i'm 16 do i HAVE TO BE LIVING AWAY FROM MY PARENTS to get emancipated? my real dad dosn't have nuttin to do with me! some one please help me.
