You know what...I had the same thing happen to me when I was younger. The thing was is that I was taking my little brother out, so I thought well, I'll just get myself some candy. And the lady was a friend of mines mom and she made me feel really bad. It really scarred me, but it doesn't matter because it's just about candy. I don't think you're too old. I don't think you did anything wrong honey. Don't worry about it. There are just some ladies that are scrooges when it comes to anything.

It was pretty cruddy what she did, no doubt. I think the reason you feel so badly is that you're really at an age where you're sort of stuck between the "kiddy" stuff and the teen stuff - in between (and so a 'tweener,' right?).

I hope you don't let this ruin all your other holidays - I can't imagine why she would have picked on you. As long as they're not adults at my door trying to get candy without their kids, LOL, I give 'em all candy!

If you were my child, I would have encouraged you to continue trick or treating and tried to teach you that people are all different - and some are nicer than others. I commend you for not saying anything to her, but I would hope you would have shown that restraint with anyone, regardless of whether they were in a wheelchair.

Go eat some candy ;)

Try not to let her get to you that much. She is a rude lady. it's not like you are 20 and asking for candy. I don't think you are too old to go- I went up until I was 15- I have a couple of younger brothers, so I'd take them with me. Try not to let it ruin your Halloween though. You didn't do anything wrong. Cheer up, not everyone is like that, and those who are aren't very happy people.

My husband just wanted me to add in that he went until he was 18 yrs old! He said he wasn't rude, dressed up in cool costumes, and went around with a couple of friends. Some people weren't too keen on giving him candy, but many did.

I'm thirteen too and I went trick or treating yesterday with my friends also. Just ignore the old lady, she was probably just being cheap with her candy. You only live once, so you might as well trick or treat until whenever you want to. =]

Hey sweetie, just got back in from taking my 14 year old and 9 year old sons out and about trick or treating. Don't let one person ruin your halloween. She has her opinion and she has a right to her opinion. The classy thing to do would have been to say - well, i just wanted to say happy halloween to you.

why go home because of one person? it is not healthy to allow other people to have so much control over your feelings. maybe she felt bad after she did that to you and decided to change her policy. maybe you scared her. maybe she's a dork.

why you'd let her control your halloween is the real question and real problem.
