I am only 12 and I look at really bad things on the net and tv! (sex, etc.) My parents don't even think I know about sex yet, they haven't had the talk with me, and I'm not about to mention it. I've tried to quit these things before, but maybe I didn't try hard enough. I am a Christian, and I'm trying to do right and please God, but it's just so HARD to quit!!! What should I do to quit?!!!!!!

Sweetie that is satan messing with you! You are a child of God and satan has to leave you alone if you tell him. Every time you think about doing something like that, I want you to sing a praise and worship song until satan stops messing with you. If you cant think of one at the time, sing Jesus loves me. It will work if you keep doing it! Good luck and I will be praying for you!

some parents never work up the nerve for "the talk"
.
#1. You need to STOP feeded yourself the " bad stuff'.Turn off the computer, TV. leave the room, whatever it takes

Rember when Joseph served in Potiphars house and Potiphars wife decided she wanted to have sex with him? He got out of there so quick!! (Genesis chapter 39)

God KNOWS about your struggle.....in Hebrews 4:15 &16 it talks about Jesus saying...

This High Preist of ours understands our weeknesses, for he faced all the same temptations we do, yet he did not sin.So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. there we will receve mercy , and we will find grace to help us when we need it.

#2 Talk to Him .He's been around a LONG time nothing you say will shock Him.
1 John 1:9 says...
But if we confess (tell) our sins to Him (God), He is faithful and just to forgive us and calense us from every wrong.

#3 Turn from the sin.
I'm sure youv'e already realized some of the things youv'e seen are still clear and vivid in your mind . And you remember them at the strangest times. You need to ask for Gods help . He doesn't want you feeling trapped by sin again.Your forgiven !!!
When the garbage comes to mind start praying. Thank God for his goodness, for being his child, start praising Him for who He is.....you need to replace the garbage with good. It won't help to simply tell yourself "I need to stop"

#4 Spend time with God, get a good study Bible and read it.

There will be other things to deal with. If you can really learn what I've told you it will be a VERY useful tool.
Don't lose heart

Long ago, even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us IN CHRIST to be holy and without fault in HIS eyes.
Ephesians 1:4

If you are a Christian you are 'in Christ' and this verse is true for you now .

Blessings little Sister you'll be in my prayers

Sweetie, I don't believe this is a matter of God and Satan fighting over you. It's not a matter of trying hard enough. This can be an addiction and addictions are difficult to overcome. Can you talk to a school counselor? Are your parents open to you having counseling? You don't have to tell them the reason except that it might help them find the right counselor for you. If you can't tell them the reason...can you just tell them you are having some problems in your life that you need an outside perspective on?

IF you honestly do not feel comfortable speaking with your parents then try to speak with a counselor at school or someone at church that you know you can trust. there are support groups out there. At your age it is normal to be curious and if your parents are not speaking with you on this you may feel ashamed but drawn even more to get your questions answered. I think it is best to find someone you can trust and just start talking about things and ask questions. You may feel better in the long run and not feel so curious. Just please be careful as to what you get into and whom you speak with on the internet. It truely can be a scare thing.

how would you feel if the people around you (whom you love) will know of your secret? stopping this bad actions is a matter self discipline. think of how much you love your parents and the people around you. how much they will be disappointed when you've done something that they don't approve of.

when you think you are about to do something bad, hold a christian image, a cross or a picture of Jesus Christ looking at you. put those images in the computer monitor at the sides or at the top. also put a picture of your parents and pictures of your love ones so that whenever you are tempted to do these things just look at them and think how much hurt you will cause them. don't stay alone or have the computer alone. temptation is always around you when you are alone. go out and play sports, softball, basketball, chess, board games... go to the movies, go to the mall, go to the arcade (after doing your chores and home works of course.) go out with your peers and friends this way your hands and mind will be busy. read books. watch home videos (good home videos).

Prayer is also a good source of courage. whenever you are tempted start saying a prayer.

also if you can, talk to your parents and tell them how sorry you are and also tell them to guide you.

Don't feel guilty!
It's natural for you to be curious.
Religion is ok, but don't go crazy about it.

The most important thing is to be yourself.

Many people have this problem but you can beat it. first tell your parents there are settings that will limit what you can view online.
Second never get on a computer without someone with you they will help keep you from viewing the wrong kind of stuff.
