We know the adoption industry isn't perfect. so what can we EACH do to help improve the process. I know someone who was placing her child privately because she thought it was horrible for an agency to SELL her baby. She said that during her assesment they made her look at 100's of"dear birth parent letters" and told her that they could find her a better "match"

She chose a family who wasn't looking to adopt, but welcomed her request. She chose them because of who she KNEW they were, not who they said they were on paper and she wasn't budging.

So, what can we do to fix the glitches?
make it illegal to charge "placement" fees?

Have a GOVERNMENT agency without bias do the assesments?

Have a GOVERNMENT issued booklet be given to each mother letting her know her options, including foster care?

Have GOVERNMENT runned homes for mothers needing support?

This is somewhere the GOVERNMENT can do a lot of good, so what's the hold up?

Anyone have suggestions?

I'm 16, and I feel like my parents are overly strict, although I could be wrong. I'm a good kid - I've never drank, smoked, or done drugs, or done anything really sexual. I get good grades and am very involved in extra-curricular activities. BUT I am not allowed to go to people's houses unless their parents are home. Not just for parties, but even to just watch a movie or chill out. I'm not allowed to be in any situation where there is even a remote possibillity of drugs or alcohol being there. I've been told it's inappropriate for teens my age to go on one-on-one dates. I'm not allowed to stay out past sunset, unless I can get a ride home, and my parents are willing to do it. I'm not allowed to drive until I'm 18 (Although I'm very distractable so that might be realistic).

Is this normal for the parents of a 16-year-old? Or do my parents need to loosen up? If so, how can I get them to do that?

Grandson is 2 and a half years old and a total terror. He has been booted out of daycare twice due to extremely bad behavior and a risk to the other children. He bites, throws things (including chairs in day care) lays on the floor and kicks and screams when he is told "no" and even hits and bites his mother. When they come to our house, nothing changes. His mother who is our daughers just says "no, no" that is bad. We have a four year old in the house who he hits and bites and throws things at. He is a terror!!!! No one in the family will keep the child for her if she needs to go somewhere. She realizes he is a misbehaved child and calls him a "devil child" to family members. My husband (the childs grandfather) says if she comes over with him any more he is going to leave the house until they are gone. He came in today and broke an expensive Halloween decoration that we have. It has gotten to where we hate to see our daughter coming if she has the child in tow. What to do? Thanks

If you made a conscious decision to have a child (not an accidental pregnancy - not against it, just looking for different info), what went through your mind? What kind of conversations did you have with your partner in order to decide together when to have a child?

My daughter was complaining the other day that she still gets spanked and her younger brother doesn't anymore(she's 15 he's 14) I didn't really realize this but I explained to her that spanking doens't really work on boys after a certain age whereas girls still learn and benefit from it. I guess it is a little sexist, I'm a woman though so I should know. I got spanked by my dad unitl I was 17 or 18. I don't think it sexist, I think it just works. My friends who are also parents agree, and it's the same in their house. Boys after 13 or 14 just laugh it off, it doesn't hurt them, and they don't fear getting spanked. But teenage girls still fear it, submit to it and learn from it more. Our son still gets punished, just by other means. I think that's what a good parent should do, discipline according to each child. Am I wrong, do you agree, or does my daughter have a point? I don't think so. Opinions please.

This may be a silly question But Im going to go ahead and ask it anywise. Im 3 days past my due date as of today. My doctor said that they dont induce on the weekend unless its an emercency... And She wants me to wait until Tuesday to set up an appoinment for getting induced.... My question is Shouldnt once you hit 40 weeks inducement be your decesion? I dont want to want till tuesday. Because most likley the appoinment will be Set for Friday... And I aint going to make it much longer... I think It should be My choice I mean after all Im the one in pain and Im the one paying them to take care of me. What do you all think...

Two days ago i went to the doctor because i have had alot of nausea/ loss of appetite since early september. I thought i would just be prescribed antibiotics or something and it would be all over. My doctor suggested the possibility that im pregnant. I hadnt even thought about it, but i havent been on birth control for a few months, but we have been using the pullout method.
Im not nauseated in the morning, im nauseated all day sometimes. i have lost 7 pounds.
I have had two missed periods, but i am very irregular anyways.
My nipples are sore, but my breasts arent.
Im extremelyyyyyy tired...but it could just be stress i suppose.
and i have been peeing a little more than usual.
I would be around 8 weeks i would think.

My doctor gave me a qualitative blood test, and it was negative.
If i have enough of that hormone to be having symptoms, i would have to show up on a blood test right?
But i have heard of women who dont show up positive until 3 months or longer.
what do you think?

I had a c-section for the 3rd time and it seems as if a couple of months later with each birth, my hair starts to fall out in the same 2 spots. It's right in the front on the hair line, kinda like around the area if you drew 2 straight lines from your eyebrows to where the hair on your head begin.

My son is the middle child, I jokingly blame the way he acts on "the middle child syndrom." Seriously though, wow he has gotten way out of control. I have lloked at the SuperNanny site, Dr Phil, and nothing seems to help. He is very strong willed. I am at a loss. If you put him in time out, you have to stand there or he will not stay...then he tries to bite you. If you spank him, he laughs at you....then he will charge you once you turn around and try to hit you or worse punch you. If he does not get his way he litterally will pick up toys and throw them in any direction. We have aq new baby and I knew it would be an issue with him, but I never thought it would be this bad. I have seen my share of rowdy children but he takes the cake on rowdy and mean. I stopped spanking him because it got to the point where it does not phase him at all and he just charges you and tries to get you worse. HELP ME, he will not win this battle I wont let him but I need advise. he will not win this no way.
