Pregnancy & Parenting - 2 September 2007

I'm having a difficult time figuring this out for myself.

1. husband :)

My sister wants to be there, but I never see her (and she lives 5 minutes away). She is always with her boyfriend who doesn't want to be around us. She does not always pick up her phone (because she is with him.... etc. etc.) I feel like I cannot count on her.

A doula? Expensive ... but possibly.

My mom? My mom can be very mean, and I don't want her to be rude to the doctor and/or nurses. She is usually mean to everyone ... and at that time, I don't think I could handle it.

Any advice?

I want to get a piercing on my nose. a REALLY little one, like a shiny thing. but the problem is that my mom hates piercings and would kill me if i ever do one behind her back (and she wouldnt let me with her knowing anyways). as far as i go, is a secong earring on my ear.. im almost 18 and i feel like i can make those decisions on my own already. how do i ask them or convince them?

i have a friend who is 38wks pregnant and has been looking on the net and trying to find ways to get baby out and speed up the labor process. Ive told her that sex, nipple stimulation and just stuff ive read as well... she looked up her own stuff to such as walking up stairs and she even told me drinking a glass of wine on occasion..... im almost 39wks. pregnant and im just wondering if drinking one glass of wine is harmful mor if it really can help spped things up....... i also hear spicy food helps too.

alright i pretty much asked this last night but it was late and didn't get many reponses. my fiance may be having his daughter every other weekend or for two weeks at a time (which we would prefer that way we will see her more) anyways i'm having a baby in the winter and we already have his stuff plus we have a shower coming up for him. so all of his stuff will be new and some of it is expensive. of course we will have to buy her stuff and i'm really looking forward to it, but is it ok if the stuff we buy her is a little cheaper? most of my son's stuff was presents and we can't afford to keep up with what people bought him because it was expensive. they are both babies. his crib and bedding is new but a friend offered to give us theirs 9they are done having kids) so we will only have to get her a crib and a few other things. it is alright to spend less money since we don't really have enough to buy her an expensive $400 crib? they will be sharing toys plus each have their own.

I understand it's illegal in *some* US states, but as I'm moving to Michigan (from UK) and planning to have another child, I'd like to know beforehand what my pre-natal care options are. In UK you get a midwife immediately (I never saw my doctor once during my pregnancy) and would rather take this avenue with my next child.

I was supposed to get her Friday night but I completely forgot and hooked with this girl. I went to get her yesterday morning and her mom tried to make me feel bad, it worked. I just forgot, I am not used to having to pick her up for the weekends. This is an arrangement that me and her mom just worked out.

Today, my 4 year old runs away from my wife outside our mall, heading toward the street. We tell him time and time again, but unless my wife collars him, he pushes his luck.

He didn't come close to getting hurt...THANK GOD, but my wife was infuriated with him. When she returned home, she marched him to our computer and forced him to watch this very graphic youtube.com video of a guy carrying a pizza getting hit by a car.

I believe, it scared him too much, as he started to cry ,hoping for his mothers console. (This is when I returned home myself). She then had a hard love talk with him, and he went on to play with his toys.

I saw the video in question and grew mad at my wife, I think the video was much too graphic for his young mind to handle.

So please, if you have the nerve, please watch this video (VERY GRAPHIC) and tell me if my wife did the wrong thing.

I strongly believe she did.

I have a 17 month old son that i just got off the breast last week and I need him to sleep in his crib at night not in mommy and daddy bed. His crib is in our room since we have a 2 bedroom apartment and our other 2 older boys sleep on the other room. I would like to put the crib in his brothers room but i know my 5 year old won't let him sleep, I need to find a way for him to he sleep in his crib in our room without crying for us to get him . My son hates the crib even when i put him in there for a nap he screams and crys till i come in and pick him up. I would like for him to sleep in his crib at night and nap time too. My husband and i would like our bed back. help!!!!

What do you do to keep your sanity? What are some of your stories? Me and my ex broke up in July and I am 8 1/2 mos preggo. I am okay to take care of my son (financially), but I have no family nearby, lots of close friends. The deadbeat dad will be brought to court once my little one is born. It's been a tough road trying to deal with the emotions of this and realizing that he is a total loser. I'm still working fulltime, in school, going to the gym, reading and trying to keep it together. I know things are going to be okay. How did you all deal with this and other situations? I just can;t believe that some people would leave us in this position because of selfish reasons. My ex admitted he cheated on me .. In an E-MAIL!! He was too much of a pu**y to tell me in person. To think that he could have exposed us to something makes me sick. He was also abusive at times when he had been drinking to, so thank God he's gone. It sucks becuase I still have feelings for him.

My son Shawn Wyatt (pictured in my photo) is a wonderful child, he has never given us a single problem in his life! But the past few weeks he has been drawing on every surface he can get at! Being an expert climber he has figured out how to get to all of our pens which are up on high shelves...I can't watch him 24/7 because I work from home and I wouldn't get any work done. He goes to pre-school 3 days a week, and even there he draws on everything. I don't know what to do, I've spent the last weeks scrubbing walls and floors. Its getting tiring! Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. Hes 3 years old

I live with my mom, and my 18 year old brother. I'm 12. I never knew my dad, and my brother kinda filled the dad role for me. I have some puberty questions, and it would be REALLY awkward to ask my mom. But my bro and I are alone for a few hours in the evening, and I have A LOT of questions that need to be answered.
