I want to get a piercing on my nose. a REALLY little one, like a shiny thing. but the problem is that my mom hates piercings and would kill me if i ever do one behind her back (and she wouldnt let me with her knowing anyways). as far as i go, is a secong earring on my ear.. im almost 18 and i feel like i can make those decisions on my own already. how do i ask them or convince them?

Well, I hate to go all parental on you then....but, here goes.
Nose piercings are ugly. They also don't help you in job interviews.
Earrings are a more traditional piercing, and moms (especially ones that also have their ears pierced), are more apt to allow those.
If the bottom line is you don't want to fight with your mother, then you need to stop being selfish...and wait til your eighteen, so that you may make your own decisions. If you know your mom will objest, and you're ALMOST 18, then be a mature almost adult, and obey your mom's rules under her roof. Disrespect is a very ugly trait in a teenager, and, it also shows a lack of self control. AND, if you truly get along really well with your mom....then listen. She might not be objective all the time when it comes to listening to you, but you should always keep the "respect your elders" mentality...especially when it comes to mom.

If I were u I would tell them exactly that- u r almost 18 and Ill just do it then but Id really lover to have one now. Otherwise on your 18th birthday just treat yourself to get your nose done. I personally wouldnt cuz its not me- I do have a pierced belly button though. BUT Ive seen some girls that it looks sooooooo cute. But alot of employers will make u take them out sad to say.

You probably can't. You'll maintain dignity more appropriate to your statement of being able to make your own decisions, if you just wait till you are 18.
There is stick-on jewelry that looks good and is used by some adults who don't want to commit to piercing, too, by the way -- and it's not "uncool," my very cool sister has used it. You might put one of those on just to toy with your parents .... hehe... and to show them it's not outrageous, and to see what it will really look like.

I would suggest NOT doing this at all. Not now, not when you're 18. Nose piercings are, in general, unattractive, and they certainly don't help you when you're looking for a job.

Well if your almost 18 and you want to make decesions on your own, you better be ready for fully finance yourself to you can really be considered an adult....
Didn't think so.
Why not give them something to compromise with? Never go into this kind of situation empty handed you moron! make sure you have something they want, this could be a promise, or good grades, use your imagination i cant do everything for you, jesus.
